Mitsubishi WS-A65 Sparks coming from the Bulb Ballast

(The tv is a Mitsubishi WS-A65 thats is all it says on the sticker on the back) For Some reason the tv was working fine, but once in a great while the screen would flicker and it would make like some type of sparking noise. then one day i went to turn it on and all it did was the green light came on , but no picture or sound on screen, then it made that same sparking noise kinda like there was a short circuit somewhere. so i pulled off the front grill for the speakers and then took off the protective wood panel for the BULBS and Ballast's well i think they are ballast's??? and i then tried to turn it on again and it started sparking from the piece that is all the way to the right it looks like the piece that the bulb connects to. so i then undid the power to that "ballast"??, and tried turning it on and it did not spark , but the tv would not turn on either, what in the world could be wrong with this thing and do you think it will be expensive????

I changed the lamp in my tv and now it comes on then flickers and then goes back off and the lamp light goes back to red from green

The ballast was probably the original problem. It is the board that the wires to the bulb socket connect to. It's a common problem. Hope you saved the old lamp. It probably will be ok once you get a new ballast. You can get that part here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

Mitsubishi WD-65C10 replaced bulb now it turns on the picture is good for about 20 seconds then it starts to flash and shuts off

The buzz may be coming from the ballast which powers the lamp--a few possible reasons: new lamp is generic or even bad. ballast is bad.

Also, do not rule out the possible dirt issue--these sets intake air from the front and the usual dust at the same time--fans and areas they vent become blocked and set will detect fans run too slow or temperature too high and shut set off.

To begin with in this situation in our shop we roll it outside and with air clean it completely out.

A few things to check and a place to start.
