my utube downloads are stuttering also after months of it working ok- what could have caused this?

  • ajp1228 Nov 23, 2008

I'm having pretty much the same problem, which has just started in the last few days. If the video loads at all, it gets stuck after a few seconds; it may a few seconds at a time and keep stalling, but eventually it just gets stuck. This was what it was doing Thursday night. Tonight, however, I can't even get the video to load at all. The round circle just keeps spinning.

I have no trouble with flash videos on other sites; this is specific to YouTube. I am running Windows XP and I do have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed. Clearing my internet cache was no help; my computer has been restarted a couple of times since this started happening; I tried turning off Zone alarm; I tried tweeking settings on other programs as suggested on YouTube's help page. Nothing has helped. Does anyone have a solution, or does anyone know if YouTube is working on the problem?

    Thank you.

Update: I have spent more time surfing through YouTube and have found that some videos are working; however, the ones I was originally trying to access still do not load. The ones I have been able to view so far have had far fewer total views than the ones that will not load.

    Hello guest,
do you let the youtube download all the way before you play it or do you let it go when the computer starts playing?

I would also suggest clearing your cashe (coockies) and history, it will be slow at the start but will runn much smoother the second time around.

I like the kind that can play numerous formats and has a USB slot for movies downloaded from the internet. Sony has always been my player of choice. Panasonic is a good one as well.

Video playback problems on pc

Jerky play back on a PC is determined by a few things. Video card memory, RAM, CPU processor speed, and *codec*. VLC has it's own codec so does not rely on the ones supplied by Windows. If even VLC is playing it back choppy, try lowering the video resolution. It may be too high for the video card to handle.

Perhaps you don't have enough RAM to run the file at it's full resolution. Reduce background tasks or close them using the task manager. Upgrade your video card, add more RAM. If you can't add RAM or a video card - either reduce the resolution setting on the camera for next time, or use the HDMI port on the camera to directly playback video to a HDMI device.

Slow playback after recording.

Quality is definitely a factor here. Set tape speed to SP. Standard Play. It uses the most tape, and use a newer tape if possible.

You can also try converting to a newer format like MP4. This is the new standard for web videos. Older codecs might be an issue.

Have you tried viewing in a different software, as i found that acer use a form of Power DVD as their standard movie player which comes installed with the system. Try viewing in media player for example.

Video playback is not smooth while playing via USB 1.1

USB1.1 port can generally handle transfer speeds approaching 5.5Mbps between PC and DVD Camcorder. Smooth playback of movies requires 5.5Mbps speeds or above. If the PC you are using has some compatibility issues with the USB driver software, the USB port may drop to speeds below 5.5Mbps causing short pauses during video playback. It is recommended to copy the movie file from the DVD Camcorder to the hard disc drive (HDD) on your PC, then playback the movie from the hard drive.
