If the problem continues, contact the hard drive manufacturer and obtain the diagnostic program for your specific hard drive. Run the diagnostic program on the hard drive and see if this resolves the problem.

My Emachines computer switches on fine but the screen goes into hibernation mode and says "no Signal" as if the base unit isn't switched on (but it is). It's only 2 years old and has a Acer...

Hi there,
If the machine switches on fine then it means it passed the POST process. try to unplug it from the outlet and press and hold the power button for about 20 sec to drain the flea power see if that will take the computer out of hibernation. If that doesn't work you might have to reseat the memory from it's place.
I don't think there's something wrong with the screen the fact that it displays No Signal tells that the screen is active but gets no Valid signal from the tower.
Hope this helps!

Acer Veriton 7800 goes into Hibernation on startup

i know what it is. you updated your ram on your veriton station correct ?
and you thought what i thought , i'll keep my computer open just in case i have to change something.

That's the problem right there. theres a special van in there that needs the computer to be closed in order to work properly. the hibernation is the protection.

If you turn off and close the computer, go to your bios and go to pc health and reset the upper option and you're set to go :D

right click on the desktop, properties, slect screen saver, setting, change the setting, you can put it never, so never will power off.

Monitor keeps hibernating, can't make it stop, pixel issue.

Hey,

I think this is more of a problem on your computer instead of the monitor, ofcourse you could try another monitor and see if the same happens. I suspect your computer goes into standby or hibernation on its own, and it does work fine if you reset the computer right?

if you go into power management again, disable or turn off hibernation completely, its on one of the pages.
Make sure its not set to standby, and also disable your screen saver.

Right click on desktop - properties - then screensaver. turn it to none.

Also you could look into the computer bios and make sure its not set to standby or hibernation from there. thats unlikely but you could check.

how to get into bios.. depends on the computer, right when you turn it on, on one of the corners of the screen you will get a message, press button to enter setup or bios. press that to enter bios when its presented.

look around the bios and poweroptions.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Computer screen goes straight to desktop image, but thats it.

go to control panel-->power options---->advanced. Here "when I press the power button" should be set to "shut down". Same with the "sleep button".

Now go to hibernate. Here uncheck the box under hibernation.
Press apply then ok. I hope your problem will be solved.

My acer computer will turn on but wont come out of hibination mode

Some laptops have issues with Windows XPs hibernation mode. To get the computer back up again you should just hold the power button down until it shuts off completely. Some laptops won’t shut off even if you do this. When this happens you have to take the battery out to get it to turn off. Make sure it is not plugged into the wall when you do this otherwise it wont work.

Once you get the computer back running again you may want to disable hibernation if it seems like its going to keep happening. Go to Start, Settings Control Panel or Start, Control Panel and go to the Power Options icon. Change the hibernation section to never. You may want to try standby as an alternative. Standby saves all your running applications and documents into RAM while hibernate saves them to the hard drive. Hibernate uses less power from your battery, but it will take you considerably longer to get the computer back up. If you always plug the computer in then you may want to disable standby and hibernate since you really dint need them while plugged in.

Let me know if this works.

Sometimes when I turn my laptop on, I hear the computer winding up then it stops. The screen remains blank. Sometimes I have to restart the computer 4 or 5 times before it comes on. And sometimes when it...

Yes, WinXP's relationship with your laptop's drivers has gone sour, like Pet Sematary. Bury your laptop...no wait, just reload the laptop's drivers (Dell or Toshiba or whatever) so hibernate works correctly...or un-fiddle with any hibernate/sleep/low-power utilities you use. Alternately consider that your laptop's reading signals from the battery or a cooling fan; telling XP or the BIOS that component is not in tolerable condition, and thus shutting down.

Have your feet rolfed while you fix that situation up.
