whats the format of the dvd writer you used,? cus sometimes the computer cant really read a unknown format of dics. try to use a nero or divx to read it.

This just worked for me. Don't know how long it will last though. I found it on this webpage
To do a reset:
On the remote control press the SETUP button,
Press the right key on the remote 3 times,
The Preference page will show up,
Press the down arrow five time to highlight
"default", hit right arrow to highlight "reset"
Press enter to reset. Turn off/on machine, etc.

What I did that worked flawlessly was press setup on the remote, go to general and go down to restore. Hit Yes to restore factory settings and all is well. :) You should now be able to play all of your region 1 discs with no issue. This is using the RCR192DA1 Remote with The RCA DRC8052 DVD Recorder.
