Question about Kitchen Ranges

Maytag oven won't stay at temp.

I have a maytag gas oven 13 years old. It will heat to temperature but when the temp. drops, it doesn't kick back on to keep up to temp. Is this a thermostat problem? Sometimes it works fine, sometimes not.

Oven temp drops to low before burn turns back on, it goes down to 300 before heating back up to 425 after it was preheated

You have a bad oven temperature sensor. It is in the back top of inside of the oven. It changes out pretty easily two screws and pull it out until the plug is visable, unplug the old and replace, push wires into back.
insert scews. Good luck!

Hotpoint gas oven won't keep its temperature. I

The temperature sensor in the oven needs replacing. It is located in the back wall of the oven. About 3 inches long, metal and about the size of a thin pencil.

My oven heats up, but then does not maintain the temp.

If it has a pilot then I would say the thermal couple is bad. If it has a glow type ignitor then the ignitor is bad.

Oven Doesn't Even turn on

The oven thermostat controls the oven temp. It is not working and you need a new one.

Amana first addition oven (approx 10 years old) will not heat

I had a similar problem with my Amana oven, also about 12 years old. It was slow to heat and sometimes wouldn't reach the set oven temp. I replaced the oven igniter on a tip that it wasn't drawing enough current to open the gas valve solenoid. That did the trick. It starts immediately and heats to the right temp. Good luck. Joe

Temperature control

sounds like a bad bake ignitor(uneven heat, long cook times, long preheat times, perhaps even gas smell while cooking)

Tappan Oven overheats!!

If you have electronic controls, you'll need either the temperature probe (about $60.00) or the clock (about $150.00). You can test the temperature probe from behind the machine. It should read about 1080 ohms at room temperature. if the probe is good, replace the clock.

If you have mechanical oven controls, you need a new thermostat. Is the too high temp consistent? (i.e. runs at 375F +/- 25F?) If so, you can usually adjust the thermostat **** to read closer to the actual temperature.
