I just asked Dell today for the Resource CD and they don't make it anynore because they don't make Dell Dimensions 8250 anymore. You can install the Windows CD but for people like me that want to run the Diognostics test your our of luck.

You have to ask dell for a new one
Or
You can install all over again using a regular Win CD
(and download the drivers for the devices that windows does not support)

I think that I deleted the petition for which my computer was running

If the computer does not boot, you will need to boot it with a bootable CD or USB and see whether you can still see the drives on your hard disk. Then you can back up the data if you see them, and then restore the system. There are some hard disk maintenance tools you might get from windows server 2000 resource kit or those hard disk manufacturers with which you can retrieve the data from hard disk if you know exactly how big the partitions are. You can use those to back up the data and reconstruct the partitions but those might be kind of complicated to use.

I lost my recovery dics to my dell computer can i remake a set

Order them here:
https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form

or you probably have a Recovery Partition if you press CTRL + F11 upon startup which will perform a restore back to the Out of Box state.

This will wipe all your data so make sure you have the data off the drive before restore with the CD or with the recovery partition

How do i reset my hp computer back to the way i bought it?

factory settings could mean performing a system restore to a previous state of the OS. I'll try to explain how you can perform each one of these methods in the article below.
Restore Factory Settings - System Restore System Restore is the in-built tool of Windows XP and Windows Vista that allows you to roll back the registry to a previous state. Note that it only "restores" previous settings for the registry and Windows system files.
You can use system restore to get rid of spyware, but if system restore does not fix your problem, you'll have to resort to either a clean install of the OS or using your recovery CD/DVDs.
You can read my previous post on how to restore your computer using the System Restore feature. If system restore is disabled, you can read my post on how to enable system restore again.

Restore Factory Settings - Recovery CD/DVDs Most computers come with either a recovery CD/DVD or a recovery partition that is hidden on the computer. This is true for most HP and Dell machines now these days.
If you have one of these, you can access the recovery from within Windows or during startup.
For HP, you can go to Start, All Programs, HP Tools, and then choose HP PC System Recovery.

You can also press the F10 key multiple times during bootup to get access to the recovery console in case Windows is not loading properly.
On Dells, you can access the recovery partition by pressing Ctrl + F11 immediately after the machine is turned on.
Note that all of your data will be lost on the hard drive. Using a recovery CD is not the same as repairing XP. When you repair Windows XP, all of the system files are replaced with the original ones, but your data and applications remain intact.
Restore Factory Settings - Clean Install XP Your last and final option for restoring XP to factory settings is to perform a clean install. This requires having the CD/DVD for the OS. If you only have a hidden recovery partition, you will not be able to perform a clean install.
A clean install basically consists of booting from the original XP CD, deleting all partitions, recreating new partitions, and then installing Windows XP from CD.
It's a fairly straight-forward process and you can read this excellent tutorial for step by step instructions. Again, it's important to note that you will lose all your data in this process.

How do i rest my dell computer to factory settings

Resetting a consumer desktop/laptop to factory settings is fairly straight-forward. Follow the steps below to reinstall the OS and drivers.
Before beginning, here are the items you will need:
A. Computer/laptop B. Microsoft Windows OS CD/DVD
1. Power on your computer. 2. Insert the Windows OS CD/DVD in to the optical drive. 3. Restart the computer and boot from the CD/DVD when prompted. 4. Follow the installation prompts to complete the install. 5. Once completed, eject the CD/DVD and perform a Windows Update to update the system and any drivers you may be missing.

My computer has a virus, I lost my restore disc. The software to restore the system is on the hard drive. When I boot the system, it sticks in a loop at the user log in. I have the win32.netsky virus.

Hia,

try to boot your computer in safe mode. when computer starts, press F11/F12 key to get this option otherwise you can find this from computer manual or from internet as per your model/brand of PC. also you can try to boot computer only on command promt option, might be this way it will allow you to go on to your hard drive C and then you can copy your restore disk files by dos commands to external hard drive or CD/DVD. also you can copy your data before you wiped out everything and restore system.

if nothing works then get ultimate boot cd from internet, burn on empty disk and boot computer from there. this will definatley lets you in and you can copy all data and restore disk. make sure, you setup boot order as boot from CD and computer will boot from CD directly.

let me know if you stuck soemwhere or any issues.

Thanks.
