Question about RCA F35731MB 35" TV

Flickering Picture? My RCA F35731MB 35" TV seems to have what I call a "flickering" problem. There are lines that flicker horizintally on the screen making the picture seem like it may shrink and close. When it flickers there is a noise that comes from the rear of the TV. The flickering is intermittent, sometimes it would be OK for a couple of weeks then one day start flickering. Sometimes the picture seems to stretch so you cannot see the names on a TV show at the bottom of the screen. This happens in conjunction with the flickering problem. I have tried unpluggin TV overnight, moved TV away from walls and played around with the vertical hold but to no avail. Does anyone have know what the cause of this may be? Thanks, Tony

Re: Flickering Picture?

Your set might have a high voltage leak and that is the noise you hear when is showing the screen problem or even maybe an arking too ,either one is related to the high voltage and it can be dangerous,if you are familiar with tv service you can try to see where is arking and replace the part with an exact replacement but if the set has a leak you will not see it and is not safe to be close to it,if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.

how extended is that warranty, and what does it cover? Sounds to me like a classic video controller board about to fail.

Sounds like the red picture tube could be shorting internally which would cause the "all red" condition. In which case you'd have to replace the red tube. Are there horizontal (slightly slanted) lines through the picture as well when this is happening and a very very bright screen? If so it's most likely the tube.

RCA F32650 32" White lines with hazy white flickering

Absolutely right about the transistor and also check any adjacent resistors to the transformer and to the line output transistor. Good luck.

More than likely you have loose connections on the power supply board. Fixing the connections should take care of the problem.

TV picture flickers

If your DVD player is separate from your tv, you might have a loose cable plug or connection. Depending on the type of flicker you have, a vertical circuit loose connection would cause this. If you could connect it to a cable or antenna it might tell you where the problem is located. A faulty circuit in the DVD might cause this too. Stargazer
