Question about Heating & Cooling

Heater makes a chirping sound ... all night long!

We have an older, out of warranty heater. It works well heat-wise, but makes a high pitched chirping sound, (I think) perhaps as it is clicking on and off with temperature changes.

SOURCE: Heater in dash makes clicking noise, stopped no heat

The clicking noise you are hearing is the temp door actuator. It is located in the center of the dash. If you look behind the radio from the Passenger side of the van you will see a white square box with a black or green connector in it. Remove the connector and then remove screws that hold the actuator in place. Install a new actuator and reconnect the wire connector. This should take care of your problem and your heater will be fixed. I hope this was helpful.

SOURCE: Lasko 5365 heater making growling sound.

sounds to me like you have a fan blade hitting something inside the unit, or the motor is going bad, thats the only moving parts to the unit unless it has a sweeping mode, moves from side to side, if it doesnt have that, then its your fan motor or blade, you probably need to replace the motor or the whole unit, as they are fairly inexspecive, but its your call, look inside the unit to see if anything is in there that might be making the noise as well, best of luck, hope that helped

SOURCE: high pitch noise seems to be steering and temperature related.

I have a 2003 Ford Windstar also. You probably will need to replace the power steering motor. It will get worse, and if it goes out, it may lock up your serpentine belt, and you'll be on the side of the road.

My heater has developed a high pitched whine on the hi or lo heat settings. It doesn't have it on fan only.

Sounds like a pressure regulator problem, to much pressure will cause this.

Constant high pitched noise emitting from furnace

Hi,
This is probably a dry bearing in the vent motor. Those motors run at high RPM's and can make a deafening high pitched squeal if they become dry and need oiling.
Some of the motors have oil cups on them for dripping oil into and others;s are much more difficult as you need to guess where the bearing is and try to drip oil down into them or run the oil to them.
Any light weight small motor oil ike a sewr machine oil will work.
Many hardwares have small oil bottles with extending spouts made just for oiling motors for just a couple of bucks...

The other thing that can cause this is if the blower wheel is coming loose and has moved to the side and is hitting the side of the blower housing. Take the bottom cover off and check for play or movement side to side in the blower wheel. Spinning it with the power off by hand may give you a clue as you will hear it scraping the side of the housing.

My Goodman High efficiency furnace stopped working and I getting 3 flashes from the red light in the viewing window. I know that this is a malfunction code but I can't find out what it means. Can you help?

On the panel with the wiring diagram, there is an error code chart. I think 3 flashes is a pressure switch problem. Check your air filter, condensate pump or hoses. Check the small hoses going to the pressure switch, check your air intake and exhaust vents. Remove any moisture or debris. Make sure all venting pitches back to the heating system and no low spots are holding water.

Monitor K-1 air intake fan had been making continuous

Spray WD-40 on both ends of the shaft and spinn manually tills it frees up. Then get a couple of drops of light motor or sewing machine oil on each end of the shaft to keep them lubricated.

Once it heats up the warning blaring sound comes on

Had a similar issue. I think if you pull the plug, remove the cover (about 4X6) inches and inspect all wires and connections you will find your culprit. Look for evidence of arcing at a connection. If evidence of arcing is present the terminal must be thouroughly cleaned and maybe a new lug attached to the wire.

Nothing wrong with it. This is a normal sound made as the oil heats. As the heater heats up, the sounds should subside.

It could be a couple things:

1. Bad heating element
2. Bad thermal fuse

Is it still under warranty? Perhaps the warranty is listed in the instruction book if you still have it.
