Question about Hitachi 60V500 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I have the same problem and just got off the phone with Hitachi. explained my problem and that I had read similar posts for this web site. Hitachi rep was very courteous and said that after I had set evaluated by any authorized repair shop, they will ship part needed for repair. He even gave me the name of an authorized shop in my area which I call to set up an appointment($40 charge). Called and made service appointment and person I spoke to said based on my explanation problem is probably light engine and if so labor cost to replace would be around $300 but he added part was very expensive so I guess I can't complain since set is out of warranty. Hitachi # is 800-654-7013. Suggest you have model and serial # handy when you call. Recent lawsuit filed against them may be the reason I encountered no resistance by Hitachi. Thanks to all who posted suggesting this tactic.
