Question about Jenn-Air JBL2086HES Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Excessive and annoying noise right from the start

I have a Jenn-Air bottom freezer with french doors on top for refrigerator that has been making excessive noise (vibrating)right from the start. I have had it for two years and everyone that comes in remarks about it. I have read the manual and it suggests raising the front so that the unit is a half-bubble off on a level. I have tried several times and have actually broken the "bolt" that I attach the hex shaped tool to. The refrigerator is permanently at the level until that is fixed. I can't believe the silence when the noise stops. It has been very annoying. I have tried changing the temps in both the refrigerator and freezer. The noise seems to be coming from the freezer area on the left side. Could it possibly be the ice maker?

Its possible, one way to tell is simply lift the arm on the ice maker to the off position, if it s off it will stop rotating and you can rule that out as the reason, if indeed that is the case you can replace the entire ice maker assy, its only held on by 3 screws and a wire harness. easy repair if needed

Most of the time this happen when the refrigerator has been hooked up to the water, and than you unhooked it!!, the water that is in the hose makes that sound when it's pushed by the air in the hose. that's a typical problem when you unhooked the water.

You have two fans and a compressor which could be making the noise. Inside the freezer behind the back cover is the evaporator fan. It probably stops running when you open the door. Hold the door switch down to keep the fan running to see if it's making the noise.
the compressor and other fan is under the unit accessed from the back behind the cardboard cover.

Our Jenn-Air French Door bottom freezer refrigerator is making a noise like it's breathing while sleeping. Kind of a wheezing noise. Do you know what this might be and what to do about it? I think it...

This might be a normal noise. when they switched to 134a refrigerant, they had to develop a new oil. This new oil comes over or circulates more easily then the old oil. The oil and refrigerant flow through a capillary tube under 180 psi to the evaporator where it expands. the noises from this process can sound like tapping, chirping, clicking, squealing or wheezing. A hot day, a dirty condenser or when the unit comes out of defrost will make the noises more noticeable.
