Question about Princeton Digital VL1918 Monitor

1 Answer

Princeton LCD17 blinks off immediately

My Princeton LCD17 monitor will come on for an instant when the power button is pressed. It immediately blinks off and the light changes to amber. It is as if it goes into power saving mode immediately. Certainly I can toss it and get a new one, but only if I am certain it is not something easy to fix.

Thanks

I was hoping it might be the VGA cable but I put one on from a working LCD and the faulty LCD still did the same thing. It flashes on for an instant and then off and the LED turns to amber. The PC is definitely powered up because I can connect the CRT monitor without rebooting.

Check the VGA cord that connects from the PC to the LCD, try putting VGA cord properly to the LCD and PC, or change the VGA cord. saving mode indicates no signal from the PC. So either the PC is not booting up or VGA cord faulty.

Am sorry I thought the LCD was displaying sleeping mode. Ok, the LCD is
faulty, There should be a defective components in the invertor circuit,
    chech the transistors.

My laptop moniter turns on as usual with the proper reading. I start in safe mode as normal..wait about 10 min and screen goes white

When the screen goes white, it can be that it is not gettin the 5vdc to the LCD panel T-CON bd, or the broken cable between the mother bd and the LCD panel, check connection at both ends.

My Princeton monitor will show the normal screen for about one second when I push the power button, but then immediately goes off (screen is black). If I push the power button off, and then back on it does...

It more likely to have the same failure as other Princeton monitors here.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed PRINCETON monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Dead. External power supply is good 12V but monitor wont turn on.

my 12 power supply was only 500ma, not the 4a needed. Got the monitor to power up but now the screen goes dark after 2 sec. Looks like a bad backlight issue. I'll replace the inverter board.

thanks

Your EPROM needs to be reset. To accomplish this please
1) Power off the LCD

3) Press the up arrow at the same time you power on the LCD monitor.
4) You will see a message "RESET EPROM" 5) Power off the unit
