when battery is installed the screen shows 4 even space bars...the top
one red, then green, blue and white with the word "bootload v 0.24" in
the red bar and "SD" in the green bar and its frozen there. I've tried
soft reset, system reset, and hard reset...nothing works.
I also have a Treo 650 that works flawlessly. I'm on AT&T and sometimes a message gets delayed but I don't think I've ever missed a message. I would believe it is the verizon network. It could also be effected by sunspots and the part of the world you are in.
If it was sold to you as unlocked return it and get them to unlock it or exchange it..
If you can't, there are no free solutions that I know of, check somewhere like www.650unlock.com (im not recommending them just came up first in a search)
Its worth googleing "treo 650 unlock" and shopping around also check 650 forums for recommendations
BACK UP your Treo 650 software and data BEFORE doing the following.
1. RESET the Treo 650 back to default set by holding power buttom following by reset the treo.
2. There is a way to reset the voltage regulator in the Treo ; believe
is by holding the RESET for > 3 seconds. Believe need to take out
the battery in out during this process. Can't recalled the correct
steps. This could could reset the Treo's power regulator.
3. TRY reinstall your palm software with minimun software or 3rd
parties one, this software could be running in the back ground which
drain the battery.
Try above steps might help.
Mine also got the same problem last two weeks, my treo could felt there
is kind warm sensation if it took out from my waist pouch after leaving
it for sometime on the table. BTW, the battery could felt quite warm
If yours also behave the same which I believed the Treo got some kind
of contact problem which draw more power then usually does.
Now, mine got no more warm sensetion after carry out above steps. It
gets better as Compared to last two weeks ago BUT not that good as
compared previously when it can last 3~4 days after a full charge.
Sadly the chances are not high.
the bootload screen tells you that Palm OS has not even loaded, assuming you have tried a soft reset this would suggest that the devices memory is either inaccessible or damaged. Anything you try is going to be a slim chance but what do you have to lose by trying?
If you reset your palm with it plugged in to your PC via a USB cable there's a small chance you may force it to act as a USB memory reader, as such it will show up in My Computer as a drive or if you have a memory card in the phone it will show up as 2 drives. I cannot stress enough that this is a slim chance though.
If you are familiar with telnet and serial data communications it is stall possible to access a palm this way and possibly find your data, however this is a very involved procedure that will require a steep learning curve if you don't know what I'm talking about and still represents a very slim chance.
