Beco D3421FW Gives off a loud bang and sometimes blows the circuit breaker

My daughters Beco D3421FW dishwasher is causing great problems, about half way through a cycle for no reason it gives a loud bang, and eventually after several bangs it will blow the circuit breaker. I am not an expert but have had a good look and cannot tell exactly where in the machine the banging is coming from. When at the back of the machine it sounds as though it is at the front, and when at the front I would say it is at the back. I have had a good look at all the gubbins underneath and the wires and controls inside the door. There are no signs of anything burnt or damaged that I can see. Jim

I do not understand! what part of the power supply?

  • jimannie Nov 09, 2008

I tried to rotate the motor when I was under the machine and it seemed to be free. the bang is best described as an electrical blowout

  • jimannie Nov 15, 2008

Hi I have checked the motor again. it seemed perfectly sound and stable and looked in good condition. A neighbour has helped me out and found the problem. It was the interference suppressor where the power wires come into the machine that was faulty. I have ordered a new part and the dishwasher seems to be going fine now. Many thanks for your help.

    Regards Jim

Why do you write back and say the motor is loose, when I have already replied saying the motor is fine and that I have fixed the problem with the help of my neighbour. As I have already said it was the interference suppressor that was wrong. My neighbour had the same problem with his dishwasher several years ago. Regards Jim

Many times a complaint of noises ( grinding or scraping ) can be traced to a cracked impeller in many of the common motor and pump assemblies used today. Sometimes a poor washing complaint is common after this wash impeller has cracked. Remove power first before investigating. The motor shaft has started to rust and swells out and this swelling cracks the upper impeller. Most times a new seal and impeller kit can cure this complaint but sanding and cleaning of motor shaft is required before replacing the new seals and impellers.

    also have a look
Have a look to make sure something has not fallen into the pump assembly, sometimes a hard piece ( like a pit ) or small utensil can fall into the pump and make a grinding style of a noise.

The motor assembly is loose. You will have to get this tightened or replaced. I would call a professional repairman to have this fixed.

This is the motor , which is near the center of the dishwasher would and can make noises if something came loose and when it comes to that part of the cycle it will jump , bump and if the motor locks then the circuit breaker or fuse would go , so there is something seriously wrong and it will need to be taken apart to see what is going on in there
can you do this?

My Indesit IDL40 dishwasher, loud bang with slight burning smell but still working?

Any burning smell is not good. Indicates that something in there is too hot and perhaps melting something. Could even catch fire......

Could very well be that whatever is responsible for the noise can be causing the problemo.

I have been using my Bosch Xcel PBH 600 watt when suddenly it made a loud bang and stopped working.it also was smoking and blew the house mains switch...

If it blew the "house main" and the circuit breaker did not blow, it indicates the breaker for the unit and the associated circuit wiring has major problems and you need to get them checked asap by a licensed electrician. Don't use it again until the circuits are chceked.

Bosh SHY56A Dishwasher - Loud Pop and Smoke While

Hey Matt,
Dishwashers are not that complicated.. Turn off the breaker, pull the machine out - away from the wall..(there will/should be at lest two screws in the top edge holding it to the counter.. remove them first.. then pull it out until you can turn off the water supply.. When you are able to completely remove the washer, you should be able (possibly)to see what happened.. Check to see if the washer arm (inside the washer) will turn, if not.. replace the motor.., check to see if the pump belt will turn?.. it could be the pump drive motor or the pump its self..(remove the belt), then see if the motor will turn, check to see if the pump will turn.
.. White smoke makes me think that the belt was turning and the pump NOT turning..that will cause the belt to smoke.. and smell like burning rubber..If the pump will not turn. you have found t he problem... Also ..Check to make sure there is not a knife or some other object lodged in the drain or pump
NOW -- With all this.. Sometimes REPLACING the machine is actually cheaper than repairing the old one!!! Your wife deserves a NEW one!!

Hello I got a Smeg DD612SCA7 its blows circuit breaker and makes a loud bang every time I plug it in and then a burning smell comes from inside. Any idea? Paul

You need to make sure the unit's voltage requirement matches what it is being fed to it and that the power connections are correct. You are describing a dead-short situation and will likely have a serious fire condition if you continue to attempt operation. If you are not sure, please consult an experienced electrician to help sort out your wiring. Good luck!

Keeps blowing the fuse in the house

Try to turn off everything else that is on the same circuit then turn on the dishwasher. If the breaker still trips then the circuit breaker might be malfunctioning or the dishwasher might be defective (in which case the circuit breaker is doing exactly what it is designed to do.) I would bet that it's the dishwasher thats causing the problem. Check with the manufacturer to see if there are any recalls on that model.

Fuse made a loud bang. Put in new 13a fuse and

Probably the wires inside melted together and now as shor circuit occurs it causes the fuse to blow. remove the bottom of the kettle and check the wiring. There's no rocket science, so you'll identify the problem after visual inspection.

Best of luck

My lg dle0442w wont dry clothes blows cold air

Sometimes it is the heater element in the dryer. Other times the main circuit breaker has tripped one leg. Some 220V-230V breakers have two trip switches that are tied together. One half of the breaker runs the motor and the other half operates the heater. A defective breaker can also cause the problem.

Maytag MDB7130AWB dishwasher blows circit breaker.

These have been known to leak water into the door panel. If so the water can cause a short. Your breaker is keeping the machine from lighting up. Check any seals that may have been braeched in the door. Start at the dispencer latch
rubber.
