Computer hangs when PCI Device Listing comes up

I have a AMD Athlon 750mhz computer. I removed 3 sticks of RAM to see if I could use them in my wife's computer, I can't. After installing them back in my computer, it won't boot up to Windows XP. It hangs when it gets to the PCI Device Listing screen and a flashing curser at the bottom, then it re-boots and the same thing happens. Can anybody help me get it bring up windows again? Thanks

Make sure they are put back in the exact same slots that they came from. If this doesn't work, I can't help you.

You can download the device drivers for your computer from the motherboard manufacturer's WEB site.
I cannot give you the link to the motherboard manufacturer's WEB site because youhave not provided me with the details of the make and model of your motherboard.

The AMD xp1500 processor is slow. Its need to be faster than it is. Need to know. Cheers!

If your computer has less than 512MB of RAM, then that is one "bottle-neck" that hurts your computer's overall performance.
Consider adding 512MB or 1024MB of RAM.

Or, your motherboard probably will accept other AMD processors in the "Athlon XP" line. Take your computer to a computer-store, and see if they can sell you a '2600+' or '2800+' AMD CPU that will be compatible with your motherboard. That upgrade will make your CPU almost _twice_ its current speed.

My computer got some serious problem, its an AMD tower computer. Yesterday, i powered my computer then at once : the CD-rom wasnt working, the monitor didnt work (No Signal) and the computer didnt boot -...

The problem is one of the two following. Either the motherboard is faulty, or the RAM is not seated properly. Try re-seating the memory, and, if possible, just use one memory stick. If that doesn't work, than you most likely have a faulty motherboard, or faulty RAM - the same symptoms apply. I have seen this before and this is always the case from my experience. I would try to return it or work something out with the seller somehow. Hope this helps!

HOW CAN I UPGRADE MY SYSTEM

it depends on how big the ram and the hd is. the bigger the hd and ram the more expensive it is except for their transfer rates. if your planning on upgrading because of games, you will need atleast 7200 rpm for the hardisk which costs more than a typical one. but for all i know thats the default for a desktop. there are 10,000 rpm also which are more expensive than the bigger hd's. same with the RAM. you can check ebay for the price. but the price depends on the country you are in if your buying it from your place.

Hangs at PCI device listing

Go to the bios settings and reset it to Optimize Default and reboot the system after saving the settings. To go to the settings, follow the onscreen instructions of your manufacturer's direction (maybe Delete or F2 or F1). You also need to scan your system with an updated antivirus and make sure that you haven't installed two antivirus. If possible restore your system to the previous date when it was working fine. do let me know again if you can't follow all these. good luck..

AMD Athlon MP 1.0G, 1.2G, 1500+, 1600+, 1800+, 1900+, 2000+, 2100+ (Palomino)
AMD Athlon MP 2000+, 2200+, 2400+, 2600+ (Thoroughbred)
AMD Athlon MP 2800+ (Barton)
AMD Athlon XP 1500+, 1600+, 1700+, 1800+, 1900+, 2000+, 2100+ (Palomino)
AMD Athlon XP 1600+, 1700+, 1800+, 1900+, 2000+, 2100+, 2200+, 2400+, 2600+, 2700+, 2800+ (Thoroughbred)
AMD Athlon XP 2500+, 2600+, 2800+, 3000+, 3200+ (Barton)
AMD Athlon XP 2000+, 2200+, 2400+ (Thorton)

AMD Sempron 2200+, 2400+, 2500+, 2600+, 2800+ (Thorton)
AMD Sempron 3000+ (Barton)
AMD Duron 600, 650, 700, 750, 800, 850, 900, 950 (Spitfire)
AMD Duron 1.0G, 1.1G, 1.2G, 1.3G (Morgan)
AMD Duron 1.4G, 1.6G, 1.8G (Applebred)
You motherboard uses a "Socket A" CPU and therefore has limits to how high you can go.. I would recommend the XP 2200 or 2400+ as a good choice, but you can make your own choice.
