Re: Cannot get tv to switch to different source

You do not mention if you have unpluged the tv from the wall,is the easiest thing to try,if the set resets and still does not open the tray you can still force it open it manually but very carefully just to remove the dvd,if you can not force it open by pulling evenly in both extremes of the tray and you feel the dvd still is not coming out even with the tray open, dont go further and get help from a servicer,we do not want to break the mechanism.(set should be unplug )You can also remove the back cover and see if the main conector to the dvd player can be unplug,if it does you can leave it unplug and try turning the set on.This information might help you make a decision but the best solution will be to disassembly the dvd and remove the stuck dvd without forcing anything. The set is faily new and is worthed the repair.Let Us know how it goes.

How can i hook up an external dvd player to this tv? i followed the dvd player instructions but i cant get it to play...i can only hear the sound

On the front you have a yellow white and red port. Use the RCA cables from your DVD player to the front of this T.V. Change the T.V. input probably with the remote or just the channel buttons. If this doesn't work, use different RCA cables because the one's you're using may be bad.

What channel does the tv need to be on to operate the dvd player? The dvd player comes on but it doesn't recognize the button commands on the tv-do no have the remote.

channel 3 or 4. if that doesnt work switch the input on the tv. the input button might be labelled input/source/tv-video or av. if you arent getting a pic while the dvd player is playing look at the back of the tv and see where the cable from the dvd player is going into the tv. it is labelled what input it should be on. ex: video 1, etc. hope this helps.

Connecting a DVD player to your stereo receiver (or television, if you don't have a receiver) involves making two basic connections: audio and video.
The first connection to make is for the audio portion of the signal. There will be several options depending on the receiver you have.
  • The best choice (if available) is either to use an optical (also called Tos-link) or coaxial (RCA) digital connection. These two choices are equal in quality. In order to use either of these, you will need to have both an output on the DVD player, and an input on the receiver. Only receivers with built-in Dolby Digital decoders will have this type of input.
The audio outputs on a DVD player

  • If your receiver does not have a built-in Dolby Digital or DTS decoder, but is "Dolby Digital ready," look for the 5.1-channel Dolby or 5.1-channel DTS. This connection involves six cables, corresponding to different speaker channels: left front, center front, right front, left rear, right rear and subwoofer.

  • The last option to connect the two components is with analog RCA outputs. This is a two-cable connection, with one cable delivering the left speaker sound, and the other cable delivering the right. This connection will deliver only stereo sound, but it may be your only option if you are hooking up directly to a television, or if you have an old receiver with only two channels.
Now let's take a look at the video connection.
  • The best quality choice is to use component connection. This connection consists of three cables: color-labeled red, blue and green. The quality is superb. However, these connections only exist on extremely high-end receivers and television sets.
The video outputs on a DVD player

  • The next option is s-video. One cable connects the DVD player to the receiver in this setup.

  • The last option, similar to the audio setup, is to use the analog RCA video output, usually color-labeled yellow on both ends. This will deliver the lowest quality, but will suffice for most older, analog televisions.

UMC 19in TV with built-in DVD player - model L19/7TCD

Try connecting earphones or headphones to the 3.5mm Headphone socket on the TV and check this works correctly, i.e hear TV when watching TV, hear DVD when watching a DVD etc.
If all is OK, purchase a 3.5mm Jack to L/R Audio/Phono cable. Connect the 3.5mm jack in to the headphone socket on the TV and connect the red/white phone ends to the 5.1 surround system.
It should solve it. SCART out is not always live in all sources so is not a reliable way to connect.

It sounds like the audio cable from the DVD drive may be loose or damaged. Did you wall mount the TV and this is when the problem started or has it always been like this? If its under warranty, contact the helpline on 0871 2000 463, be warned, if its becuase the cable is damaged by a wall mounting screw, its clearly evident and they will charge for repair.

Samsung tv - switch to play a dvd player

All you should have to do is hit the TV/Video button on your remote. It also could be named AUX, or or INPUT. What this does is tells the tv to switch to the input you have the DVD player hooked up to. Otherwise it will keep drafting a signal off of your cable line.

Dvd stuck in dvd

Lay the TV, face down on a folded towel. Remove all the screws. Note: there is one perimeter screw with machine threads; all the others are the same.

Remove the four black screws from this area:

Then you can pop the back loose and slide it towards the end where the black screws were. It just lifts off and there are no wires attached.

Now you can see the DVD player. I used the end of a plastic pen to shove against the edge of the DVD that you can see through this slot.

Press on the DVD's edge until you see it come out the entry slot.

You can see the DVD slide out the entry slot as you are pushing.

When done, slide the back into place and replace the screws.

Pretty disapointing considering how nice it is to have it built in.
