    check the horizontal transistor -(2sc5588)

  • cyriacus joseph Nov 17, 2008

there are 3 small red rectangular shape objects near the flyback transformer .these are fuses .one of them may be open. the pins of the transformer needs to be soldered. there are also 3 capacitors(electrolytic) that needs to be changed if they look swollen.the location number under the green circuit board is cp150 cp114,cp120

In order to solve these problems you need a qualified tv technician

I put a new bulb in the tv about 3 months ago. I was watching the tv the other day and turned it off when done. I went to turn it back on the other day and it does nothing, no red, green, yellow blinking...

Try pushing in the reset button on the front panel, its very small and you will need a pin to push it in. Do this while the TV is plugged in, then power it on again see what it does. If still nothing then the FMT board is developing a known fault. You will need to replace the FMT board if reset doesn't work....
Also..
It could be a fan issue, if one of the fans in the TV stop working this will cause the TV not to power up too.
Let me know what you find...

TV shutdown itself. LED on/off indicator is blinking.

That happened to me before. I was watching TV and all the sudden it would just turn off on me. The power switch had gone bad and I had to have a new one put in.

No power to tv

The power management and protection circuits have taken over. There is something taking too much current and the protection system has shut the system OFF to prevent further damage ...............if you are familiar with tv service you can check the main fuse that should be close to where the power cord comes in,if you find the fuse blown it needs to be replaced with an exact replacement for AMPS rating and VOLTS rating as well as size,if the fuse is blown black we might have more problems ahead in the circuit and it will blow up again as soon as you plug the tv back in,if it blows again it will need a more involved repair, the problem could be in the primary side of the power supply.......Check horizontal output transistor.............

Blown fuse

Most likely there was a power event (surge, brownout, ect) that caused the power supply to fail in the TV causing the fuse to blow. you will need to have someone come and look at the unit and give you an estimate. If you keep putting fuses in and blowing them you could actually be causing more damage.

Philips 50pp9202, no picture but sound is fine.

I have the 51 inch of this model and I have found that usually it give you some indication before going completely out. Like color problems, sound, or just video disappearing. Most of the time it will be the convergence amps going bad, but you should have seen some color distortion. If not then it could be the vertical output. TDA8177 needs replacing and check caps around and diode, If not this then look for open fuse in HV line to crt's. Also power supply fuse like 1900, 2004, 1300, etc.
