With no disk you cannot restore your computer to a factory settings, at least that your computer has a second disk with the restore settings installed on it (usually this disk is called restored)

If on your friends computer there is no hiddend partion from where to boot and install again operating system the only way you can restore it is to install from a OEM cd inserting the windows code you find on the laptop or installing a free open source operating system like Linux

Is there a utility program on the Toshiba that can be used to create a set of "System Recovery" disks, writing onto blank CD/DVD disks that you supply?

I have an Averatec 4100 and I would like to set it back to factory default settings. How do I do that?

You don't say if the system will still boot up, or if the Hard Drive is still intact or what happened that you want to restore to the factory settings.

If the hard drive is still OK, you may be able to restore the original software by pressing f4 repeatedly on a power up reboot, before the Windows system starts loading (a 3200 uses f4 on boot-up to access a hidden partition (D:?) on the hard drive which may contain the original system files and applications. The 4100 may not be the same.)

If you have modified the drivers, you may be able to restore the original drivers by going to "My Computer" icon on the desktop, and right clicking to open the "system devices" menu. There, you can open "properties" for any devices (hardware) that you may have changed, and try to restore to the previous driver.

If you need new (original) drivers, you may download them from:

http://www.trigem.com/us/support/drivers.asp

The user manual for your system is available at:
http://www.retrevo.com/d/ds/progress?doc=620637ea9665f6ec226b353b2ed6df5e&rk=0.5734748288133472

Other options, such as a recovery CD is available for a small fee at:
http://www.user-guides.co.uk/cddownload/Averatec/Averatec4100/Averatec-4100-Data-Recovery-Boot-Disk-CD-For-Windows-98-548371.html (you have to follow the instructions to download a .iso image file, and burn it to a CD, which may be a challenge for you if you have not done that before).

If these options don't work, or you need help, provide some more information on what happened to your laptop and what is not factory any longer.

I WOULD LIKE TO RESTORE MY ALL-IN-ONE TO ITS ORIGINAL FACTORY STATE BUT DONT KNOW HOW

if you have CD Recovery with you, just insert the CD restart it, make sure you have set the boot order on cd/dvd drive, and follow the instruction. If you don't have, downloas from this link:

I have an Averatec 2370 notebook with Windows XP and I want to return it back to factory settings to give away. I press F2 for BIOS but I am unable to find a way to return it to factory settings. Any help...

What do you mean by "back to the factory settings"?
If you want the laptop back to when you first bought it then you need to format the hard disk and do a fresh Windows install plus install the device drivers for your laptop.
