I must warn you, replacing the wick is a very tricky job. You should take it to the place where you buy the wick and let them install it.  Call first to make sure they provide this service.

Check all airvents into conbustion chamber. Make shure they are all clear of blockage. The heater needs air to burn fule properly. Check wick adjustment it may have to much wick.

You have to take the heater apart, in order to change the wick out. be sure to wait an hour before lighting the heater afterwards. That is necessary, and should be heeded.

Corona 17 dk

Just pull it out with pliers. It has sharp directional tabs pointing down holding it in. Once the wick is pulled out, it is no good. New wick pushes right in.

Change wick corona dkc22

u need to start at top . remove cage from top. there should be a few screws on the side of the upper case (the round upper part of the heater) once that is removed u will see the shaft the wick is attached to,the heater control are mounted here too. there should be some screws or wing nuts remove them. now lift the shaft out the wick will come with it (carefull wick wiill be wet with kerosene) remove old wick. when replacing new wick make sure to allign the top of the colored band with the top of the wick holder(the piece with the pins that adjusts the wick up & down) lower shaft & wick back onto heater and reasemble heater .be sure all controls and shut off work smoothly and correctly.

Corona DK 23 kerosene heater won't start

try bringing your wick up to the fully raised position and pinch and bend the wick toward the igniter until they line up right. I have two coronas one of which has a broken igniter due to wear and tear. If you open the little door, press down the start lever, and light the wick with a barbecue grill lighter, you can safely light the heater if lining up the wick fails.

Change the wick

You must be very careful and follow the instructions exactly on these wicks. The pins must be inserted into the holes on the wick holder. It is also easy to install the wick holder upside down. Look for a small up arrow on the side.

You must soak your wick for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1 hour. I know it's tempting to light it right away, especially when you are freezing, but you must wait. Wicks work by using capillary action. The fuel must have time to soak in properly.

All wicks are NOT created equal. Buy good ones, under no circumstances should you buy the ones that Walmart sells. They **** and you will be changing it in a day or two. Home depot sells a decent one, but for the really good ones visit Miles Stair wick shop. He also has some good info to deal with condensation and moisture problems.

Also note these heaters will not work if they are dirty. They must be absolutely clean of all dirt and debris, every single part. Especially the parts that come in contact with the wick.

Regular maintenance, good wicks and good fuel will keep these heaters working.
