When using the walking foot how does the guide work?

Yes, you would set the guide at the distance you want the next row to appear. Set the guide to follow the previous row and then stitch with the walking foot to create the new row.

How do I attach the quilting bar to the walking foot on my Simplicity Quilters Classic? The manual doesn't show how to do it

There should be a hole across the back of the walking foot (penetrates the walking foot usually from right to left, although some feet will have 2 guides--one for left to right, the other left to right) where the bar mounts and a screw to tighten and hold it in place.

HV sapphire 930 not feeding properly

When stitching together a quilt sandwich, it is recommended to use a walking foot on your machine. The walking foot moves the upper fabric in conjunction with the feed dogs. Sometimes, if the quilt sandwich is not too thick, a roller foot can also help but may not be sufficient for a quilt sandwich.

You may also check the presser foot pressure on your machine. This regulates the amount of pressure the presser foot applies to the fabric and the feed dogs. If the pressure is too strong, it will tend to push the upper layers of fabric, creating a bubble look. If the pressure is too loose, there is not enough pressure for the feed dogs to physically pull entire quilt sandwich under the presser foot.
(The pressure is adjustable depending on the types of fabric and thicknesses being sewn.)

The walking foot is too aggressive on material, causing it to claw rather than pull through nicely.

Walking foot may not work well on thin material or normal sewing, it is meant for quilting and is applied on several layers of material.

How to attach a quilt guide

You have to unscrew the screw for the presser foot first. The walking foot will then fit. Use the same screw to attach the walking foot. Before you insert the screw, take the white handle on the walking foot and slide it on the screw arm for the needle. Now tighten the screw.

Stitches

Usually a walking foot is for straight forward stitching only.It keeps the many layers from shifting for you. The "hand-look" quilting takes a couple stitches forward then one back. If you look close, you will see about every other stitch is thicker and stands out more.
