Question about Samsung SP-S4243 Television

1 Answer

Black borders On my plasma TV, I had compenent cables hooked up from my cable box to my TV. I went to buy an HDMI cable to hook up instead of the component. When I hooked up the HDMI cable, all of my regular channels have a black border on the sides now. My HD channels are full screen, but the rest are not. How do I get my regular channels back to full screen? I already tried hooking back up the component cables, but there is still the black borders on the side. Can anyone help?

Re: black borders

Check the resolution settings on your cable box, you may have to call your cable provider to find out how to get into the settings menu, there is a stretch function in the settings that should make all the lower channels auto fit your screen, also see if there's a p=size button on your remote control, try pushing that when on the channels that have sidebars.

When I hook up my LG plasma to PS3 and Cable box, I don't get any sound or colour on the PS3. The TV /cable box works fine. Any ideas on the wiring?

What type of connections are you using? HDMI? Component? Composite? What audio? HDMI? Optical Digital? Analog audio?

Are you saying you get video from the PS3, but it is in Black&White only? Is there an NTSC/PAL selector on the PS3? If so, it may be set wrong. Set to NTSC if you're in the United States.

Killed by lightning, have power, no picture...

The warranty does not cover lightning, check if your insurance covers it.
A lightning strike on such panel ( HDMI ) is very difficult to repair and if not impossible. The HDMI connector is hooked to the ground of the TV set so everything could be damaged.
My advice is not to repair.

Screen craked broken screen

Is it a Plasma TV? Are you saying the screen is cracked? do you have a top box cable box? Also, make sure you have your TV input set to HDMI if you have an HDMI cable hooked up between your cable box and TV.

Samsung HDMI issue

Have you try to replace your HDMI cable?I recommend you to pick up a good Monster HD700 HDMI cable from a local retail store like best buy or circuit city.In case it isn't the cable problem, you could return it.
However, when you are a using the HDMI cable,it is normally either have both picture and sound or nothing at all.Are you sure you didn't hook up the audio OUTPUT from your TV back to a receiver input?
Or even an optical output from the TV to the receiver?

Greetings 4mother,

It would really depend on what type of hook up you are using. Most of the time a plasma television would be hooked up with either and HDMI or component cables. Your local store should be able to make a solid recommendation based on the items hooked up to your television such as cable or satellite box, dvd player, etc.

I hope this helps.

if I understand your question properly.. its because your direct tv output doesnt broadcast in high def so its giving you the standard tv definition inputs which are RGB or you will lose picture quality cos its running at fewer lines or pixels. hope this helps
