Question about Computers & Internet
I am not computer literate, so please bare with me.
I am having extreme difficulty playing online games on my XBox 360. When trying to join a game or session, I receive kmessages such as " could not connect to host", etc. .
I have troubleshooted as much as I know, including contacting XBox- they indicate the problem is with my router.
In order to play online now, I have to plug my XBox directly into my cable modem, to which I have no problem playing online at that time.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated; maybe a step by step process to ensure I am setting up the router correctly.
Thanks yeah me too i have it plugged into my router and it says my NAT is open... but i cant play with one of my friends and he has his NAT set to strict. but he can play with the same people i can play with. its just that i cant play with him online. just him. NEED HELP. email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
If the problem has something to do with NAT firewall in your router, then you may need to open certain application ports for your XBOX in the router. You may check this link from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874 that talks about NAT firewall and XBOX live.
Hope this helps!

My NAT is open, I have 3 ports forwarded, and I've increased my MTU size. When I try to play GTAIV online, it tells me "disconnected from game session. Returning to single player." or "your router NAT is too strict." I have a Netgear WGR614(54 mbps). HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

allright do not worry about it seems some ports has to be forwaded in the router, normally 88- udp and other ports has to be forwarded in the router, get in touch with x.box and the port numbers , that will fix your problem

you have all the wireless settings of the router, you are ready to
connect the play station or the x-box to the wireless network.
On the x-box you will need to connect to the wireless network now.
Open the main Interface of the X-Box.
1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.
3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.
the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't
broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and
enter the name.
5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.
6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.
Trouble connecting to the internet on X-box ,Play station or WII ?
You can try to reduce the MTU settings on the router. if the MTU on the router is set to 1500 then change the MTU to 1365. Also you will need to open the ports on the router.
For X-box port numbers are - 53, 80-88, 3074 .
