I am not computer literate, so please bare with me.

I am having extreme difficulty playing online games on my XBox 360. When trying to join a game or session, I receive kmessages such as " could not connect to host", etc. .

I have troubleshooted as much as I know, including contacting XBox- they indicate the problem is with my router.

In order to play online now, I have to plug my XBox directly into my cable modem, to which I have no problem playing online at that time.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated; maybe a step by step process to ensure I am setting up the router correctly.

Thanks yeah me too i have it plugged into my router and it says my NAT is open... but i cant play with one of my friends and he has his NAT set to strict. but he can play with the same people i can play with. its just that i cant play with him online. just him. NEED HELP. email me at mattbnfla@aol.com

If the problem has something to do with NAT firewall in your router, then you may need to open certain application ports for your XBOX in the router. You may check this link from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874 that talks about NAT firewall and XBOX live.

Hope this helps!

My NAT is open, I have 3 ports forwarded, and I've increased my MTU size. When I try to play GTAIV online, it tells me "disconnected from game session. Returning to single player." or "your router NAT is too strict." I have a Netgear WGR614(54 mbps). HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
