Try turning the key on and off several times. Do not turn the engine over, just on and off. You will need someone to stand with their ear close to the "open" gas filler tube. What they should hear is a quiet buzzing sound that cycles about one second long then stops. This should happen at at least two of the key turns. If nothing is heard you may need a fuel system fuse or a new fuel pump.

SOURCE: vw polo electrical problem

If spark is good, it could be fuel pump or filter, or even your solenoid. Message me with more info. does it:
1. Try to start? - Fuel issue, or battery issue?
2. Click - Battery issue
3. Nothing? - Solenoid issue

SOURCE: car wont start, not getting spark

crankshaft sensor, or computer on toyotas then it was usually the distributor or the computer, but the crankshaft sensor might be bad too thats what helps to get you spark.

VW Polo wont start.know it has fuel and spark plugs are sparking.tries to start on first attempt but not after that. Mobile mechanic has run diagnostics found nothing that suggests it shouldn't start

Today's gasoline goes bad very quickly. If car sat unused for over three months, fuel may have gummed up pump or filter or even injectors. (Disregard if diesel) Try using small amount of spray starter fluid to see if it starts for a moment. If so, fuel system may require service.

Polo classic refusing to start but l smell petrol

Check for spark. If plugs are firing,(at the right time) and you get fuel to them, it can't NOT start.

My Polo Classic 2004 1.6 is misfiring. There is a smell of petrol and the car is not accelerating rapidly.

Check carefully for fuel leak. If it starts well and then gets worse as it warms up, check coolant temp sensor. May be it just smells like fuel because it misses so badly fuel is not being burnt and floods tailpipe. Check spark at plugs with timing light to avoid sparks where fuel may be present. Weak or irratic spark can be coil/module, crank/cam sensor. Remove plugs to see what they look like or which is not firing.

My 2001 1.6l Polo classic won't start. The oil

First of all you need to access the Engine Control Module (ECM) using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-COM or similar) connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC's memored. DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Then you will bu full informed about the root cause of the problem, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces and reset the ECM.

What can I look for to replace on the VW Polo Classic 1996 fireing system. It began to not start at times when run warm after switching it off I found that is no spark and sometimes the spark comes back...

most problems like this are caused by these things 1: Crank sensor 2: Cam sensor or if you have a distributor pick up coil. One of them items is most likely you problem. You could also check your coil but that is less likely to be the problem.
