Question about Krups XP 4050 Espresso Machine
I have a Krups xp4050 that was working beautifully for 2 years and a bit ... until this week. Lately it won't brew or produce hot water. The steam function however still works fine. I thought it was a cleaning / descaling problem, so I used a sta***cks product to clean it and it worked the whole time I was cleaning it, but stopped on my second run through of clean water. I've tried cleaning it twice now. Here's what is happening when it doesn't work:
Press a button (one shot, two shots, or hot water), the machine starts normally, sounds like it will perform fine, runs for 2-5 seconds, then stops and beeps and all of the lights blink.
Any help is appreciated as I am getting quite fed up with this problem.

SOURCE: My Krups won't brew
had the same type of problem with a hair dryer once. A thermal interrupter- I called it a planned obsolescence gizmo- died. I bypassed it with a silver wire soldered in and the hair dryer ran well until another part died years later!! Sailorb

Most likely it starts the espresso but stops after a few second because the unit is not getting the water flow information or the unit is blocked. You will know that you have a blockage because not water will come out of the espresso filter but most likely you get some liquid during the 4-10 seconds it operates. My unit has the same problem and I fixed by getting a new flow meter. This unit is installed after the water tank and has wires (3) going to the the power module.

No, it does not quite clean both boilers, even though they are connected, you will have to use the preground chute if your machine has one, if not then grind and brew method will work. The reason, you want to get some of the cleaner through the white plastic valve behind the brewunit and the fitting that connects it to the boiler.

Testimonial: "Thank-you. Is it better to let the machine heat up to running temperature, or do it cold (as soon as it's turned on)?"
