Question about Nortel Meridian 9417CW 2 Line phone

2 Answers

Can't dial out

My phone won't dial out anymore. The only thing that is appearing is the indicator arrow next to the "intercom" button. It will not select a line or dial out. But there is a dial tone, and it will accept incoming calls. There were some guys in the office doing some work earlier today. Could they have hit a combination of numbers that would do this? Or are there buttons that are jammed? The phone is a Nortel Norstar Modular DR5 with three lines. Thanks for your help.

What are you getting when you try to dial out? Sounds or display wise? How are you dialing out? Do you access a line, dial 9 from intercom? The dial tone is probaly the phone system generated dial tone. With more information, I can help..

Call in a pro. it sounds like you lost all your programming with that power outage.

I can't make a call or receive calls, I tried unplugging it several times and all the lights starts blinking!! When I try to dial a button, it gives me a busy signal.

You are probably trying to dial out on an intercom button. This will give you a busy every time. You may have to dial 9 to get out.

To test your phone, 1st find out what your intercom number is (press feature*0 and then press the intercom button) Your display will show you the intercom number of your telephone. Then try to make an in house intercom call to another working telephone. If that works have them call you back.

The next step is to find out if you have any lines programmed to your phone. (press "feature*0) and then each button on your phone. The display will show you what is programmed on that button. If you have any that say "001 Line001" or such those are the outside lines to dial out on. Hope this helps.

We can't figure out how to turn off the intercom paging

Firstly, on your set that you want the paging to be taken off, dial FEATURE 0 and the intercom button to get the extension of your phone. Now hit the RLS button.

FEATURE * * 2 6 6 3 4 4
Password: 2 6 6 3 4 4

now you need to know the template (you will see 3 arrows on the screen of the phone):
<- Heading Enter->
<- Back Next->

Now you you will see:
-> TERMINALS&SETS and press Enter
-> type in the extension of your set and Enter
-> hit Next and enter at CAPABILITIES
-> keep hitting next till you see PAGE ZONE:1 and then press CHANGE till it says NONE
-> hit next once and then the RLS button...

Voila, your set will now not page anymore.
