Wavy colors do not line up

My 56h80 toshiba looks like it is in 3 D .it started doing this in the 7 3 aspect but then it now does it in the 16 9 theater wide setting as well . A repair shop came out and installed a new convergence control board but it did not fix it. The picture in picture function quit working at the same time. When you look into the projection guns they all have a wavy vertical border the horizotal borders are straight. this seems to show up on the screen as wavy colors interlaced with each other. you can move the guns around with the convergence control on the remote but they will not line up since the picture being projected is not square.

My toshiba 40e210u lcd tv won't show full image on screen

The Aspect ratio of the TV could be on the wrong setting for the image you are trying to view. Widescreen's standard ratio is 16:9 ensure the TV is not set to zoom, 4:3, or pan & scan in the picture menu of your TV.

If the picture looks normal except it's just missing the edges or looks squashed or looks like it is zoomed in from the normal image then aspect ratio is probably the cause.

Sound no picture 56h80 toshiba

This set will blank the picture for several different reasons:

No filament voltage to the three tubes it uses.

No high voltage to the three tubes it uses.

No vertical or horizontal sweep (prevents all three tubes from having the screens burnt with a line.

Some of these can be tested but most require a schematic etc.

Set has several fuses and some do not look like fuses--called pico fuses.

I have a Toshiba 52HM84 and the picture has gotten really wavy, what can I do?

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms
  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Toshiba rear screen projection tv theaterview colors wavey? It no longer is visible, the colors are separated

1.) It sounds like you have a convergence problem; in the customer menu with the original Toshiba remote select convergence--if blue or red will NOT move in some direction you have a bad convergence IC.

2.) This set uses 2 STK-392-110 convergence chips; they and any open resistors around them need to be replaced and the set adjusted.

3.) If you are able to do this repair yourself you can save a lot of money--Most TV shops will charge 300-400 for this type of repair on this set.

4.) If you cannot do the repair yourself look in your area--now is the slow time of year for TV repair shops---if they say it "has to go to shop" keep looking----almost any good tech can do this repair in your home in about an hour--I have done hundreds of them here and charge 200-250 total depending on brand and model.

5.) I am here to help people and if you have questions or need advice let me know--the two chips this set uses you can buy on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping.

I do this here for free, so if this information has helped you give me a vote here---let me know by replying here if you need more help.

Toshiba 42WH36P rear projection TV has wavy lines

the problem is going to be a bad NEXT HYPER UNIT module. this is the digital scan card in the tv. try using the componenet inputs and if the tv works ok then you know that the HYPER UNIT is the problem. the reapir process for a "do-it-yourselfer" is too involved and would recommend a serivce center for this repair.
