HP Photosmart D7460 Error Message

Whenever we try to open my documents or Internet Explorer we get a series of "installing" windows. After clicking on the OK button (it repeats the message) we get a final message that says: Error 1706. No Valid source could be found for product HP Smart Web printing. The windows installer cannot continue.

After all of that I can surf around the Internet and get to my documents but I have to jump through all of these hoops first each time. Is there something amiss or a way to disable this message?

Thanks! Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product HP Smart Web Printing. The windows installer cannot continue

I have the same problem, but only for limited users of the PC. I have administrator rights, but my kids have limited user rights and they get the message at least once (usually twice) each time they login.

Using an administrator account, remove HP Smart Web Printing using Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.

If required, download and install HP Smart Web Printing from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=dj-56929-4&os=228&product=3551212&

After updating to IE9, my printer won't print in grayscale, only color, why?

are you trying to print grayscale copy of the broswer or webpage? or grayscale from word document?

if you are trying to print grayscale from webpage or email, check the version of you IE 9 if it is BETA version or the complete version. It might have something to do with it.

Try using mozilla firefox browser or google chrome as work around.

Printer "out of memory"

The problem isn't your printer. The problem is with your Microsoft Works software. I know of six solutions that may work.

1) Download the latest service pack for .NET Framework 1.1. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38&displaylang=en

2) Go to this website and download the update. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=65f5b806-e6a1-4f92-a656-e56eeda67e3d&displaylang=en

3) Uninstall printer completely (again). Unplug the printer from the computer. Reboot computer. Download the lastest driver from HP website. When installing the driver software, choose (type)a different directory,( ie. C:\MYHP\HP4180\ ). Plug Printer back to computer.

4) Go to this website. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841220

5) Click START, click RUN, type SPOOL. Double click printer folder, clear (delete) any files in this folder.

6) Download the latest version of Microsoft Works 9.0.

Let me know if this works.

Remove the HP Smartweb printing software.
==================================

1. In the Start menu select All Programs > HP Smart Web Printing > Uninstall HP Smart Web Printing.

If the changes you make in the Page Setup dialog of Internet Explorer are not reflected in the Page Setup dialog of the Print Clips window and vice versa ?

This is a known problem, and not unique to HP Smart Web Printing. When printing from the Internet Explorer File menu, select File > Page Setup and make your settings there. When printing from the Print Clips window, click the Page Setup button and make your settings there.

Now install the smart web printing software from the weblink provided below:

After removing the smart web printing software, please visit the weblink and download the HP Smart Web Printing 4.05 software from the webpage.
