Why is there a menu scrolling issue with just one PS2 game?

That is a strange one there. I recall Xbox having an issue like that, but only if you were holding a button or control when the game started. I would say, take it to a friend's house and try it there. If it still does it, then you have a rare bad copy with bad code.

How to fix my playstation 2 that won t read grand theft auto san adreas

Your console is an old one,and your lens too is probably weak.Try cleaning your PS2 lens Watch Video at end of solution to clean your PS2 at home....
You can also follow these steps to make your PS2 to play GTA San Andreas:
  1. Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc.
  2. On menu screen go to [options] by pressing 'triangle' button.
  3. A new screen will appear select by pressing 'X' [DISC SPEED]and set it to [FAST]
  4. Then insert the game disc.
  5. Turn off your PS2.
  6. Press and Hold the [Reset Button] till the blue light turns on.Release the Reset button and press it again.
It will take a bit more time to play game, but first i recommend you to clean your PS2 lens, watch this video.

I've got something else to add.......you can follow above steps to play DVD movies if your PS2 dont play any.....!!!

Ps2 wont play DVDs

Your PS2 laser is wearing out. When the laser starts to go, first games will skip... then eventually the PS2 will stop reading DVDs altogether. If you keep using it to read CDs, it will eventually stop reading those too and the laser will die altogether. Here's a website that will help you identify your PS2 model, show you how to replace the laser, and they sell parts and do repairs too

u should adjust the laser lens, depends on the version u have, if it 1 to 7 it should have a white wheel and u should turn clockwise to adjust.

PS2 won't read Original/Backup CD/DVD

The Purpose behind the guide to you is emulate your exploit disk, instead of using the disk you use, you're storing the exploit files themselves to your memory card ie. you're ps2 menu and HDloader and any other .elf file. Then you're using the PS1 (retail) game to cause a buffer overflow exploit to load the elf files stored on your memory card, once this is done you get that modified PS2 menu. As I said in the first clairication request the swapping stuff doesn't pertain to you becuase you have a mod chip installed. The main purpose for you to use what i posted eariler was to give you your modified .elf PS2 menu back (cuz all of your tools were stored before on your exploit CD wich is a non retail burned copy) this gives you a way to boot up with things that are native to the PS2 (memory card and retail PS1 game) from the .elf PS2 menu you should be able to see better what is going on becuase you can access each disk type contents from that menu and should be able to launch the game (if your laser lense is functioning enough to read retail PS1 games) from the menu itself. Or if you've been using HDloader plop that .elf onto the memory card (explained on my site) and just navigate to that via the .elf PS2 menu and you'll at least be able to load games stored on your hard drive. This is just something you can use till you get your new PS2 chipped out.

Of coarse this is all speculation. If your PS2 can't even read retail PS1 games none of this will even work.

Sry I don't know anyone that does the chipped stations nemore. I'm sure someone on this site still does though.

Bought playstation 2 guitar hero world tour , doesn't work

Here's what I did to fix the same problem on my PS2 (Slim model # SCPH-70012). This should work for all models of PS2's. (Slim or Fat). Sony says all models can read a dual layer disc. If the fix doens't work then you need to send in your PS2 for service.

1) Start up the PS2 with no disc in it.
2) Highlight the 'Browser' menu and press the 'green triangle' button.
3) Highlight the 'Console' menu and press the 'green triangle' button.
4) Highlight the Diagnostics menu and press the 'blue X' button and select 'ON'.
5) Press the 'red O' button to back out of this menu.
6) Highlight the 'PlaystationDrive' menu and press the 'green triangle' button.
7) Highlight the 'Disc Speed' menu and press the 'blue X' button and select 'FAST'.
8) Press the 'red O' button to back out of this menu.
9) Turn off your PS2.

10) This step is optional.......I blew into the main unit to loosen any dust out of it and then carefully used my shirt to wipe across the lens at the back of the drive. I'm not sure if this mattered or not. Since I did this in conjuction with the above steps I can't say if this is needed.
11) Insert the disc and turn the PS2 back on. The diagnostics should run and automatically adjust your PS2 to play the game. I was amazed! Mine loaded right up after several previous days of nothing.

12) I checked the settings after the initial load and the Diagnostics and Drive speed reset to normal so it must be a one time run thing. My game has loaded everytime since and I haven't had to re-do the settings at all.

I hope this works for you too!!

PLAY PS2 GAMES ON PC

Ok, you want a full procedure here it is. First of all if your computer does not meet the following specs stop reading cuz you'll be wasting your time trying to get it to work and will be very disappointed by the quality of game play:

Minimal Specs:
AMD 64 or Intel Pentium 4 (VM Build will not work with non SSE2 CPU's)
512MB of RAM
Pixel Shader 2.0 supporting card

Recommended Specs: (For reasonable performance in many games, but not all)
AMD64 X2 or Intel Conroe E6600+ (Multi Threading is supported in PCSX2)
512-1024MB of RAM (more RAM allows for VM mode to be stable)
Pixel Shader 2.0 supporting card (recommended GeForce 6600-8800 or equivalent ATi card)

Possible Ideal Specs:
64bit OS such as Vista or winXP64, to allow for future support of 64bit recompilers.
Future AMD or Intel Quad Coremaybe needed, but currently the support of 4 threads is not handled byPCSX2, and the effect of threading out EE / VU is not yet known.
We don't forsee you requiring a GPU more powerful than the current generation of cards, up to and including the nVidia GeForce 8800.

Also note, if if have just a standard AMD Athlon (non64) don't even bother trying to run this emulator. It does work but is very very slow.

If you meet at the very least the minimum specs go here and download PCSX2 Binary. .::CLICK HERE::.

This is the BEST PS2 emulator currently on the net. There is NONE better.

Next: as with any emulator you need a BIOS in order to use it. There are several methods to getting a PS2 BIOS. You can google "PS2 BIOS download" or check torrent sites like this one .::HERE::.and do a search for "PS2 BIOS". At any rate, get 1 or many BIOS(one for each different area ex. Japan, US, Europe)

Next: Un-7zip the PCSX2 7zip. Take the BIOS.bin files you downloaded and place them all in the folder, "bios" in the PCSX2 folders you unzipped.

Next: You'll notice two icons that look the same one is called pcsx2.exe and one is called pcsx2t.exe. I have had no luck getting anything to play worth a **** on pcsx2.exe. I use pcsx2t.exe. According to the person who made this program, pcsx2.exe is a faster emulator version, but he says that AMD people have had better luck using pcsx2t.exe. So, if your computer has an AMD processor try the pcsx2t.exe first. But keep what I said in mind cuz you may have to use the other one instead. In either case, choose one and run it.

Next: When the program opens, it will have to be configured. Look at the top of the program and click the, "config" menu option. Next click the, "configure" menu option. You are now faced with several configuration options. I'm not even going to bother explaining what each option does, go .::HERE::. it explains what everything does. 9 times out of 10 when pcsx2 won't work, it's cuz of a bad configuration. SO MAKE SURE YOU READ THAT WHOLE PAGE.

As you can see there two ways you can load a game. Either by turning the game itself into an ISO or from using your DVD-ROM drive.

As far as controlers go, you can purchase USB PS2 look alikes from most computer stores. You can also get PS2 to USB converters that you can plug directly into your computer. And there is even a SIAXIS driver floating around on the internet that will run a PS3 controler as if it was a standard computer game controler. If you don't have money for a controler or what not just use the ZeroPAD option under, "First Controler" and start binding keyboard keys to assigned slots.

As with any emulator nothing is perfect and this will not play every single PS2 game out on the market. However, this is the most current emulator in production atm and is the furthest along. When you get everything up and running you'll want to look ..::HERE::. at the compatibility list to make sure your game is registered to even work with this emulator.

Hope that helps,
L8er
