Question about Refrigerators
The freezer on my side-by-side GE just started turning off randomly. If I slide the temperature all the way to the left (warmest), wait a few minutes, then slide it back to the right (colder), something clicks and the light in the fridge dims slightly and the freezer is fine for a while. Somewhere between 12 and 36 hours later, I see water dripping out of the freezer and I have to do it again.
The model number listed inside is TFS28PBBG BS. When I looked it up on GE's site they translated it to TFS28PBBBS. This is the big stainless steel model with the beverage center in the refrigerator door. I think I bought it in 2000 or 2001.

I may need to know your model # from the sticker inside the fridge to view a diagram but usually there is are small set screws (usually 2) on the handle which are allen head that can be tightened. Look for this first and let me know if there are no set screws. If this is your setup then I would appreciate a solved rating.

You can replace the doors but you will think you bought a new frig when you see what they cost. Most come as an assembly and are very expensive.

remove the crisper drawers and you will see a drain trough and a drain line . One or both is most likely blocked. If you pull the drain line off the trough usually you can clear it with a turkey baster filled with hot water

Get a bottle of mineral oil and coat the front of the refrig . Then wipe off , after a few minutes . This will allow the oil to get back into the pours of the stainless steel . You may even want to let sit overnight . By adding mineral oil to the surface ( even permanently ) this will keep fingerprints and other solutions , such as lime away , drinks , food , etc , of the doors , with gentle wiping .
