Question about Conair DPP1500 Iron

1 Answer

Iron Randomly turns off

The iron keeps turning off for no reason. It doesn't matter what heat settings. It will work for a week at a time and then for no reason shutdown and will not turn back on. Another time it will turn on and off. I think its a bad On Off switch I can hear a little buzzing sound sometime. I removed and checked all the contection and reassemabled. Problem continues.

The iron is only 18 months old and out of warrenty. I was thinking of boxing in up and returning to see waht would happen.

I know in this economy, fixing a small appliance is always something to look at before buying a new one, but in this case, that is what I am going to suggest. An iron is an appliance that has the potential to burn your house down when it is in GOOD working order. It sounds like there is either a bad component, or there is an internal short. Either way, I would be safe and get a new one.

Hope this helps,
Chad

It is my first time using it, I brought it from USA and it is not working at all!!

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet, check the electric cord and check the thermostat .
If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat

If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

It leaks water when I iron sometimes staining my clothes with black streaks or water stains.

Hello :

1:Clean your steam iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Your iron is more likely to leak when it has not been cleaned properly. Plus, the water that leaks from a steam iron that hasn't been cleaned will likely be dirty and stain your fabric. Every steam iron brand is different, so be sure to check the manual that came with your iron or browse the manufacturer's website for instructions on keeping your steam iron in good working order.

2:Use your steam iron on a rigid surface like an ironing board. In a rush, you might be tempted to quickly iron a blouse or pants on the nearest available surface like a bed, carpet or even on a table with a towel draped over it. However, these surfaces may not provide the proper amount of level padding for successful steam ironing, and leaks are more likely to occur. Take the time to set up your ironing board for smooth steam ironing to reduce water leaks on a bumpy surface.

3:Allow your steam iron to heat fully in the upright position before ironing. Because your steam iron is designed to convert water into steam that will easily smooth out wrinkles on bulky fabrics, you can avoid leaks by ensuring your iron has time to get the water to the correct temperature. If you lay your steam iron in the horizontal position too quickly, water that is not hot enough to convert to steam will leak. Give the iron a chance to heat up, and then test your steam function on your ironing board cover or spare fabric swatch before tacking your favorite blouse.

4:Turn off the steam function on your iron when ironing at lower temperatures. Since your iron's steam function is designed to convert the water in your iron to steam at the right temperature, lower iron temperatures can cause water to leak if your steam setting is still activated. For ironing more delicate fabrics, turn off the steam to avoid water leaks.

Switch light goes on when pressed but goes off if not pressed

Switch light goes on when pressed but goes off if... OR iron does not heat at all even pressing the button to turn it on continually.
Don't understand which one question you are asking
But if there is no heat at all after switching it on, it needs to go to iron heaven but be sure to cut the plug of the end, Saftey reasons at the dump. BUT if lights are coming on the iron is working. the large dial on the water filler is temperature control. Turn this around to cotton or linen.
The light will come on and off while in use, it allows you to know that the iron has cooled and is going back to your select temperature( on the large dial)

Make sure that you use water in the iron as it will aid your ironing and make it quicker. Make sure that the iron temperature dial on the water filler is at the correct temperature for the item that you are ironing.
Hope this helps
