It will vary based on the pixel size of your photo. At worst case, take the pixel size of the camera and divide the memory stick by that. For example, a 3.2 MegaPixal camera, at highest quality, can get about 40 pictures. If you reduce the quality from the best or the size of the photo, then you will get many more pictures. With Sony, Sony uses a compression method that gets usually double the pictures at the highest resolution. Expect about 60 pictures with a 3.2 camera (do the math on other resolutions).

What is the picture capacity of the standard memory card?

That depends, among other things, on the picture resolution and quality. The chart here gives some estimates for 2GB and 8GB cards. For the included 128MB card you should be able to get 35 to 350 or so pictures depending on your settings.

After taking about 15-20 pictures our camera shows card error message. We download the pics onto our computer and reformat as the camera says to do...but should the camera hold more pictures than that?

Hello,

It sounds like the card is damaged, it should take a lot more photos than that.

The C-50 takes an XD memory card. These are different sizes. For example a 256mb size will take hundreds of photographs.

The C-50 is quite old and there are now different types of XD cards. It might be best to get a 128mb XD card.

The Olympus website says:
---
Please contact Olympus authorized distributor or service center in your region for the information about
using xD-Picture Card 512MB, 1GB or 2GB
---
I hope this helps.

If you can access the card on your PC, copy off anything you need, then reinsert the card into the camera. Go into the menu and format the card. This should make the card work with your camera again.

If the card doesn't work with the PC then you more than likely have a corrupted card, which will need to be replaced.

The largest memory card that the camera can support is a 128mb smartmedia card. The card will hold approx 257 images when set to HQ mode.

Memory card

Fuji uses 16MB xD card with the camera, which won't hold too many 4 Megapixel photos at the highest quality setting. So you should plan on buying a larger card right away. xD cards are currently available as large as 1GB, and I think 128MB is a good starter size for most people. Be warned that xD cards tend to be more expensive than CompactFlash and SD cards.

Memory card

Hi - no, the DSC-P7 isn't compatible with Memory Stick Pro, only original Memory Stick, meaning you're limited to 128MB/stick. Having said that, the P7 is only a 3.2MPixel camera, 128MB will hold quite a few pictures, even at full resolution.
