Re: Booting Problem

Could be a power supply problem but suspect its a problem with the motherboard. Unless you have a spare power supply or testing equipment I would suggest you take this to the local repair shop. For $30 they should be able to give you a good idea if the power supply is shot (cheap fix) or the motherboard (more expensive). Be aware that I also found lots of cases where a bad Emachine power supply also damaged the motherboard as well.

Is there a cpu upgrade for an hp pavilion 6835 with a motherboard 115561 cognac 20000731

The fastest Pentium 3 that will work in your board is a Intel Pentium III 1GHz chip. Here is a link to the specs:

You could also get a Intel Celeron 1.1 GHz but it only has half the level 2 cache size so it's actually a bit slower than the Pentium III 1GHz chip.
Here's a link to celeron specs:

Connection between emachines case and motherboard

Most likely the wires are for power, reset, and hard disk light. Touch one pair together momentarily, if your compter comes on then connect those wires to the power button. After the computer is on, connect the other two pair to the hard disk light one pair at a time until you see the light activate when the hard disk is running. Then connect the remaining pair to your reset button.

Are they compatible?

Hi, your cpu currently in the machine should be a 754chipset, only way you would be able to put a core duo processor in the machine would be to replace the motherboard, cpu, and probably the memory.. to DDR2
