Re: cartridges not moving

Sounds like a corrupt driver, uninstall your printer (Start> Printers and Faxes on right column), select your printer icon, right click>Delete. Disconnect your printer and re install drivers first, then reconnect printer when prompted. If still not performing correctly suspect printer head carrier fault.

Re: cartridges not moving

Hi I had this problem on a pixma ip3000. The bottom of the holder where the print head sits was bent down ever so slightly catching occasionally on various parts jamming the cartridges. Cheers Mike

SOURCE: Printer will not print.

In your print utility, you need to calibrate your printer, which will print a test page and realign your cartridges. It should be OK after this. If not restart the printer and the computer.

SOURCE: alignment after new cartridge

Hi I think that you will need to clean the gold dots on the printer carriage or if not done so remove the blue tape from the cartridge or if you are trying to use refills install some originals as this may help.

Hope this helps'

Looking to replace HP 3820 printer with another printer. Perhaps one with cheaper cartridges. HP Windows 98 is the operating system.

first of all, try to stay aay from inkjet printers -- they cost too much to maintain, relative to the overall cost when you buy one. secondly, Windows 98 is no longer supported. My suggestion is to buy HP laserjet ,as toners last longer and the average cost to maintain per year , after the first two years is approximately $50-$200 , and then another two years before you have to maintain again. Spend $400-500 for laserjet and save in th end.

Do the math and figure out the cartridge cost over 1 year for inkjet.

hope this helps

What does error code 3820 mean for a kodak esp5 all-in-one printer

The error message "Carriage Home detection failed" (error code 3820) can be resolved by following these steps:
To resolve this error:
1.Open the printer access door.
2.Disconnect the power adapter from the printer.
3.Gently hold both sides of the carriage, located immediately behind the print-head, and make sure the carriage moves freely.
•If the carriage does not move freely, contact Kodak.
4.Remove the print-head and ink cartridges.
5.Reinstall the print-head and ink cartridges, making sure each clicks into place.
6.Connect the power adapter to the printer.
7.Turn the printer on, if necessary.
8.Close the printer access door.
If the error continues, contact Kodak.

Printer Cradle does not remove to center of cradle rod

Bad cartridge carrier, probably uneconomical to get it fixed. However, try unplugging the power cord for 10 seconds. Good luck.

HP Deskjet 3820 Won't print blue

The problem is most likely an "old" cartridge, even if it was new in the box. Printed on the box is an "install by" date which is 18 months from the manufacture date. If you do not have the box you can check the warranty date on the cartridge as shown here. The warranty date is two years from the date of manuacture, six months beyond the "install by" date.

A fresh cartridge will almost certainly solve your problem. When buying new cartridges I would look for at least six months remaining before the "install by" date.

When storing cartridges for long periods keep them in a cool place and leave them standing upright as they would be hanging on a store display shelf for maximum life.

No PRINTOUT, only blank page/ no page received

Dear Teleios
'power button blinking without taking a paper to copy' usually means paper jam or no ink error.
First ensure you have no paper jam and you just replaced both ink cartridges.
If the printer still does not print, or does not print colors or black ink, then the ink must have dried up on printer head/nozzles.
You can try using clean nozzles option from hp printer software several times, and see if this fixes the problem. If it does not you will need to physically clean printer heads inside with solvent and cotton. To do this you need to disassemble part of the printer.
Having same work done in a service centre should cost around 50 euros.
HP DeskJet 3820 InkJet is not an expensive printer, if you cannot fix it with a clean head / nozzles from software you may also consider buying a new one for slightly more than the price of a cartridge change.

Hp 3820 not printing

Ink buildup in the internal service station causes the small poorly designed pusher cogs on two drive gears to snap off and the printer is instantly converted to junk.
HP was giving new printers out for this problem till Jan 06 or so as they realized it was a poor design.
I fixed one with parts from an electronically damaged unit, but usually the blinking lights and "won't print no matter what" problem are sheared gears. Parts are not available. Some people made metal gears (the only answer) on a very short run basis in Europe several years ago because people LOVE this printer.
Once you know the problem, it's simple to keep it from happening with some maintenance, but once they shear, it's over.
There was some kind of paper-clip fix that was solving the problem even with sheared gears, but I was never able to understand exactly how it was done. Needed a pic or two.
Otherwise a great printer, huge cartridges last a long time, great quality on photos too.
I have to keep mine running to have a happy wife.
