Hotpoint cannot obtain bearing or a rear drum case (apparently its easier to replace the rear drum and bearing than risk damaging the original drum - makes sense I suppose).

it cost roughly the same to change a full drum assembly as it did to change the
inner bearing .and will be  much less time consuming

still u want to change the bearings this is the procedure
    its a long job.

    first remove the top
    then the front control panel.
    disconnect any
wires connected to the circuit board.

then remove the front panel with the door intact. to do this you
must unscrew the the screws in the top and bottom and remove the screws for the
door inter lock as well as undue the door gasket from the panel.

Then you got to remove the concrete weights.
and pull the pegs in the legs from the drum side.

Then you got to dissconect the drainage at the bottom of the
    drum from the pump
remove the wires from the solenoid and
disconnect the pressure switch from the small plastic tube.

undue the tubing from the soap draw to the
    drum
remove the clips near the springs.
undue the front metal panel which the board was connected to and
    remove the drum.

rate the solution if it helps u.
    feel free for further assistance.
    thanks.

Why is my LG TROMM frontloader dryer making a loud noise when running?

If the washer is making a loud noise the rear drum with bearing might need to be replaced. On this washer the bearing might not be sold separately, the entire rear drum might have to be replaced. This is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer. However, the problem is going to get worse very quickly and so either the drum and bearing will need to be replaced or the washing machine.

Good Morning Brian,

The reason the drum has fallen free from the rear is a defective rear drum bearing and that drum bearing that has sheared itself off of the bearing support.to repair that dryer ya would need to replace the bearing kit its part number 5303281153 and would be in stock at your local applince parts store or online at searspartsdirect.com, repairclinic.com, apdepot.com, partselect.com, or apwagner.com

Before replacing the drum the drum bearing you should also inspect the heat element since when the bearing shears off its not that uncommon for the drum to fall onto the heater shroud and also break the heat element

While this Youtube video i have included the link to shows how to replace the drum bearing in a full siz e free standing (not stacked laundry center) dryer the process of how to replace the rear drum beaqring is exactly the same and that video should help ya http://www.youtube.com/user/RepairClinic?v=67hOqSFnX8g&feature=pyv&ad=9033434261&kw=drum%20bearing

Good luck,i hope ya find it very simple to replace that bearing,
GENE

I have a Hotpoint BWd129 washer/dryer. When I

I have a similar Hotpoint model to this, that does something very similar now and again, usually when trying to set a delayed start.

The only way I have found to "fix" it is to turn the machine off for at least 5 minutes, and then try again.

Hope this helps.

This is most likely the drum bearings failing.

Drum bearings normally last a long time (10 years or more isnt unusual), but quite often drum bearing failure is caused by a faulty drum shaft seal allowing a small amount of water through and in to the bearings. The bearings then start to rust and this accelertes how quickly they deteriorate.

Replacing a drum bearing requires well above average DIY skills, so unless you feel you can do it, can get hold of a tech manual, and can find a supplier for the bearings, it's time to get a quote from an engineer.

Drum paddles keep falling out (Hotpoint BWD129 washer/dryer)

I had this problem, and I was advised by the guy who has apparently 'replaced hundreds of these bloody things on this housing estate' to never buy this machine because 'its cheap and ****'

However, if you bend the long central tab ,the one that looks like it does bugger all, upwards into the drum (carefully though, only bend it a little) this will increase the tab tension, and your lifters should last for over six months instead of the previous couple of washes mine was doing.
As for the comment on washing trainers, I put a single towel in my machine and the lifters broke...

Removing/replacing main drum bearing on a zanussi WDT1085

Yes you do need to remove the drum, it entails stripping the washer down, and it is normal practice to replace the complete drum half with the bearings pre-fitted..
It is not a job to undertake, unless you feel competent to do do it, as it entails al ot of work and time..
Good luck if you decide to proceed.
Plz rate my suggestions.
.Thanks.
