If you want to connect to the router wirelessly you need to know the SSID or the Name of the Router (Nework Name) and the Network Key or Wep Key. The Default Wep Key is the 10 digit key located on the bottom sticker of the router. It is near the Bar Code. You can also personalize the Network Key by simly accessing the router. I've listed the steps on how to access the router incase the Network Key on the sticker is not working.

the default wireless passowrd or network key is located at the bottom left of the 2wire router. You will find a sticker that indicates the Serial Number, System Password and Wireless Network Key. The Wireless Network Password is is the 10 Digit Code located under the S/N.
If in any case you want to personalize the Wireless Network Key. You can access the gateway by opening a browser the type 192.168.1.254 it will ask you for a password use the System Password on the sticker. Click on Home Network then Click on Wireless Settings. You can also change the Network Name or SSID, The Authentication and the Wireless Network Key
Hi...if you mean the network key, the key Windows asks for when you try to connect to a secured network, you can find this within your router settings.
As this is a 2wire model, you might also find it on a label on the router - it depends if you changed the default settings.
- it will show you where the default network key is on the label, or if you have changed it, how to login to your router and to find it in your settings (see screenshot at base of page - your network key will just be labelled 'key'.....)
The only time you really need software to set up the 2wire is if you are going to the use the USB ports on the back of the 2wire. The 1000 series have wireless capabilities. Since you have a new laptop, it should have wireless capabilities.By default your network name should be 2wireXXX and the XXX is the last three of your SN. The network key for the 2wire is the 10 digit number that is in brackets
You must log on to the browser interface of the router (usually for
2wire they use 192.168.1.254) run the set up wizard it will come to a
screen which asks for a key code, this key code is provided by your
ISP, you can try one of these and see if it works
if you have a PPPOE connection (you have a user name and password to log on to the internet with use this one.
if it is not PPPOE use this
to manually configure the router use this 5225-2374-WG62-22AS-BJ7P
If these do not work call your internet provider and ask them for the key code.
ok, if you can log into the router at all, you should be able to go to home network, and halfway down will be the wireless configuration.
assuming it's set to default wireless security, there should be a network key writtten on a sticker on the bottom of the router: You'll need to enter that code in windows vista before it will allow you to connect wirelessly.
if your wireless connection is not working even if the wireless light is lit up on ur 2wire modem/router....try to delete the 2wire network from the prefered list...go to network connection, right click on wireless netwrok connection, go to properties and click on wireless network..select the 2wire netwrok on the prefered list and remove..reconnect to the network by clicking on view available wireless netwrok and select the 2wire network again...if its asking for a WEP key or password take a look at the bottom on the modem a 10 digits number enclosed in brachets..thats the network or wep key. access 192.168.1.254 and click on home network, got to wireless settings---edit settings...change ur wireless channel to 10 adn power settings to 10, save ur changes=)...ohh and by the way make sure that the wifi switch of ur laptop is turned on=)
