When first turning on set the picture is blurred with very poor resolution and color. No other distortions or lines. But after a few hours of being left on it clears up. Is it the bulb and where would I get one. It seems that Mitsubishi doesn't list the bulb as a part.

Re: blurry tv when first turned on
The keyword for me here is blurred "at first,a bad bulb will only give you a dark picture being defective or with too many hours,The bulb is not consider a part ,is an accessory to the manufacture and is part of the market strategy. The problem in your set might be an slow charging capacitor in the power supply or in the ballast board, the ballast board is in charge of the supply volts to the lamp,if you are familiar with tv service you can check these circuits but if you are not too familair be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.Let Us know if you need more information.

Make sure TV is on the correct channel or input. Check the cables for correct routing from TV to any other devices. Check cables to ensure they are tight and secure.
An analog signal converted to high defintion resolution will cause lines, blurriness or fuzziness in the picture. Change the resolution to a lower or native setting using the media device (cable box, DVD,). This may be an issue that requires a service call to cable provider.
A problem on one channel may just be a error on that channel. If using an antenna, it might need to be adjusted in order to ensure good signal strength. For digtal channels, go into TV Menu. Check the DTV signal. Weak signal can cause picture distortion.
If another device is being used such as a cable box, DVD player or VCR switch between devices and test picture. Check routing of cables that are used to control the image. This should be a series of red, white and yellow cables.
If a VCR with a cable box, make sure the VCR and TV are set to the correct channels for video signal to pass through. If problem is still occuring, try another set of cables. bad cables can cause picture distortion.
Bad cables can cause picture distortion as well. Try another set of cables. If picture is better than when using the cables replaced, this was the issue. If cables are not an issue TV may require service.
I sugest you to change the video resolution settings on the PS-3 to see if TV sets to any one resolution...if you have any other video out (analog from PS3)...connect the out to TV and check video at different resolutions. If PS3 has Deep Color settings turn it OFF.
Is the onscreen menu just as distorted and are the lines across it or behind it? The pop you heard may have been a capacitor and since the TV is still powering on, it's the probably the video controller board that is on it's way out. If the onscreen menu looks fine, you maybe having a problem with the input board only so try a DVD that uses a different input and if it's poor, I would say the TV needs to have the input/output board service. If the OSD is distorted as well then it's definitely the video controller board and service is likely required.
When you reboot your computer, hold down the "Delete" key. This should take you to a black screen and multiple options like "Safe Mode", etc. Choose "Last Known Good Configuration" then see if that helps.
If the pictures on the Internet are blurred, it's most likely due to a setting in your router/modem or web browser that is loading the page with minimal image quality and size to make browsing faster.
you have a shorted green CRT that is affecting the other crts the short is internat to the crt that leaves what is called retrace lines. if the set is more than three years old then replace all three guns.
