Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
The method to diagnose this is to first, check the door switches. Any one of them not functioning can cause this problem. If the door switches are all in working order, replace the magnatron, diode set, and capacitor.

can you hear the magnetron operate i.e. light dims, transformer has a louder hum,if so more than likely either the H.v. diode or H.V. capacitor is bad or worst case scenario the mag tube has failed.....costly

The magnetron is more than likely the problem, "heats food" cheaper in the long run to replace the microwave oven.

Testimonial: "Thank you for quick response"
SOURCE: Everything turns on and appears
Since the magnetron is probably the problem and costs $139.96 plus shipping and tax from Sears are you sure you want to put that much into the repair? If so the part number is: WB27X10017
