Instructions to replace 3949238 lid switch?

remove the two screws that hold down the top console, flip up the console, with a screw driver pop the two metal clips and the wire harness closest to the right clip is the lid switch harness.unplug that, now remove the two screws that hold the switch in place where the lid closes down.tilt the frame forward a little, you have to remove a 5/16 inch screw that holds a ground wire in place near the switch, pop out the wire harness out of the two clips, use a screw driver to bend the clips so you can get the wires out and then push the two plastic side holders in and then push the harness out of the top panel.then put the ground wire screw back on,screw in your new switch, stick the harness behind the clips, pop the white harness piece back up throught the top panel, realine the panel, pop in the two metal clips, plug in the harness to the switch, flip down the console and screw it down and you are done, when you go to put it back together watch out for the clear plastic line going to the pressure switch.if you knock that off the washer will flood over, most likely you wont even move it but i've heard it happens.good luck

My kenmore 800 series has a problem during the spin cycle. more often than not the machine bangs all over the place. i redistribute the wet clothing multiple times so it spins in balance. but all the time....

unplug the machine, remove the two phillips screws that hold down the top console, flip up the console, with a screw driver pop the two metal clips, just stick the screw driver in the hole and on top of the clip and push back towards the wall and the clip will release,in between the clips you'll see the lid switch,a white plastic harness connector, unplug that then open the lid, grab the frame pull back and up and remove the frame of the washer, look at the bottom rear of the frame and the tub,you should see a spring hanging there, the hole that it was connected to rotted out,you need to drill a new hole and connect the spring to it,that spring keeps the machine from bouncing all around like it is

Kenmore Elite Oasis is making a loud banging noise during spin cycle. Also just noticed a small amount of water under the washer. All other cycles appear to be working fine.

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
1. They are there and mount is solid.
2. If they are broken in 1/2.
3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

Replace/repair as necessary.

Cant get the clips back on that hold back to top on kenmore s 70

Looking at the clip from the side there are two hooks. One goes into slots in the washer back and the other snaps into the cabinet.

Starting with both tabs on the clip facing up, the tab with the longer end hooks into the back. The shorter end lays on top of the holes in the cabinet.

Smacking the clip down seats it in the cabinet. It will only go in one way.

I cant open the this machine to do repairs

Disconnect your Kenmore Oasis washing machine from its power source. Make sure that your washer is unplugged before beginning to disassemble it.

Remove the screws that hold the control console to the top of your Oasis washer. In some Kenmore Oasis models, the two screws may be covered by plastic end caps. After removing the screws, set them aside until you are ready to replace them.

Flip the console up, back and out of the way.

Locate the cabinet clips on the top of your Kenmore Oasis washer. These clips are located toward the back of the washer top and would be hidden by the console if it were not currently flipped up.

Slide your screwdriver underneath the metal cabinet clips. Wiggle the screwdriver back and forth to gently pry the cabinet clips free.

Disconnect the group of colored wires that plug into the top of the washer from the control console. These wires control the lid switch on your Kenmore washing machine. To disconnect, grasp the white plastic clip and pull gently.

Remove the washing machine cabinet. Tilt the cabinet towards you, and then lift the entire cabinet up and off of its platform.

Change or Screws making noise?

If you want to check for coins, debris, etc you first need to open the top of the machine (not just the lid) There are 2 clips in the sema between the front and the top panels (they are green when you shine a flashlight on them) Push the clip towards the rear and lift repeat with the other side. Now there is a peice of plastic on the top (tub ring) Push down while pulling the clips free. Finnally, remove the plastic cap in the center of the basket. There is a bolt underneath that holds the basket down. Once you remove it, lift the basket out. The other alternative is taking the rear panel off. There are two pumps on both the lower right and lower left hand corners. Once you drain the water out, you can check for foirgn objects in there as well.

Cannot figure how to open top cover

The top of the machine does not open. You have to remove the console to get to the retaining clips that hold the entire case on the frame. If you wish to pursue this follow these steps: 1. Unplug machine. It's best not to have any live voltages when working around the console. 2. Lift console. It will come off in one of two ways depending on what type you have. The end caps on either side of the console are removable on some models by popping them off to the expose a screw on either end. If teh end caps don't come off, you will have a retaining clip holding it in place on each side. With this type, you will need to insert a putty knife (from the FRONT of the console) under each corner and push in to release the retaining clip. 3. Once the console has been lifted from the top, carefully lift up and back to its resting position over the back panel of the machine. Use care when when doing so that you don't break the plastic hinges that hold the console in place. 4. There are two brass-colored clips under the console that you need to remove. Insert a flat screwdriver straight down through the top into a groove in the clip and pry towards the back of the machine. This will release the clip. 5. Once the clips have been removed the entire case comes off as one piece. Make sure you disconnect the lid switch connection on the top of the machine first. This will be a plastic white connector plug. Open lid and place one under the front rim of the case and pull from the back towards you. The case will lift off from the back first and off the frame. 6. Replacing the case is always the tricky part. Looking down through the lid of the case, make sure you place the bottom front lip UNDER the frame first and slowly lower the case on to the frame. There are four cleats the must fit back into slots on the frame before it will seat properly. Also, make sure the back fits back into the casing on both sides or the retaining clips will not go back in properly. Insert the clips into the slot on the back panel first then push down on the opening on top of the washer for them to snap back into place. Now, I don't know if you still want to try to tackle this or not. It does seem like a lot, but it really isn't once you get the procedures down. If it's just a simple matter of cleaning because the washer smells, the odor may be coming from the wash tub itself. Running the machine on empty, with the hottest water cycle you can with a cup of bleach can go a long way towards killing bacteria and mildew. Just another thought to save you a lot of effort. Good luck. I hope this helps you.
