The TV is in protect mode.

Try unplugging power cord for ten minutes or so, and see if this help.

If the TV does not restart, then try unplugging for longer.

If still no luck then that means that there is an internal fault, let me know if you get the led blinking a number of times, or if there is an error code message on the TV display.

In particular , regarding your case,

TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby

mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of

    any of the circuits.

That means that if the TV does not restart after unplugging overnight, that means that the power board must be replaced.

Note: it is not the main fuse, when it is the fuse you get no power at all, 2 blinks means : protection after overvoltage from power adapter.

Often you fix this by leaving TV unplugged for some hours, until you drain power completely.

    Ginko Nov 09, 2008

If it is still the same, wait longer.

If the over voltage had been occasional (eg. power surge can give you this) , then after draining power completely, TV will restart.

This is only if you are lucky enough and TV is not broken.

If TV does not restart the bad voltage that started protection circuit (led blinking and TV not starting), was caused by a bad power board, probably one of the 3, 5 or 7 (depending on network voltage and model) high voltage capacitors on power board.

In this case the TV keeps in stand by so that the protection switch can save the rest of the circuits from being damaged by a faulty power board.

If it does not restart, you will need to call a technician to fix it.

You can call support by ringing the phone number listed on the owner manual.

If you call Sony, ask them also the cost for a warranty extension, this is generally less expensive than a single repair job, and can cover all repair costs for one extra year.

You can refuse my opinion, but I think I have been enough clear, the TV has a malfunction related to a power board problem, and must be fixed by a qualified technician.

I also re-post my previous comment for better clarity:

No what? You have a faulty power board, 2 blinks, and no restart after har reset (unplugging procedure) is just a faulty power board.

Here is the faulty part, if you have a good experience in fixing electronics, then you can do the job yourself, if not call the technician.

    And no what!?

    Here is the part:

And do not forget to ask Sony the cost of guaranty extension, it will be probably cheaper than the cost of the single part.

My Sony Bravia TV - Model #: kdl-52z5100 no longer powers on. There's a red light that blinks twice whenever I attempt to power it on. Please help

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Sky remote code for model UE40J5100AK

Programming the remote control
To control your TV firstly switch on the TV set, point the Sky remote at the TV, press the "TV" button on the Sky remote, then press and hold the "Select" and "Red" buttons together until the red light at the top of the Sky remote control flashes twice. Press "TV" again then enter the code for the TV listings below (Use the 4 digit codes from the left hand column), the red light will flash twice if a valid code has been entered. Press TV then the standby button on the Sky remote control, this should switch the TV set off, if so then press the "Select" button to store the settings. You should now be able to switch the TV back on and use the volume control button from your Sky remote.
If the TV did not switch off then it may require a different code, you can either start again using one of the alternative Direct codes below or continue with this process by continuously pressing "TV" then "Standby" then "TV" then "Standby" etc until the TV set switches off. This will provide a manual scan for variations within that product code.
If you are still unable to control your TV from the remote control see: Programming The Sky Remote or go to Sky's official website where you can see if a particular remote control version number will operate your make of TV, this can be found at:Skyplease remember to use your back button and come back to us.

Trying to program a direct tv remote to work with my 46" lcd, Vizio tv. Have tried the codes provided, but they don't show when I type them...not sure if actually being entered. Or, maybe have...

1 Vizio tv.code 0864 OR 10885 OR 11756OR 10178

Unable to Find Correct Code
If you were unable to find the code for your brand of TV or component, you can try a code search. This process may take up to 30 minutes.
1. Turn on the TV or component. Insert a tape or disk if applicable.
2. Slide the MODE switch to the TV, AV1 or AV2 position, as desired.
3. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys.
4. Enter 9-9-1 followed by one of the following four digits:
Satellite - 0
TV - 1
VCR/DVD - 2
Stereo Receiver/Stereo Amplifier - 3
5. Press PWR, or other functions (e.g. PLAY for VCR) you want to use.
6. Point the remote at the TV or component and press CHAN+. Repeatedly press CHAN+ until the TV or component turns off.
NOTE: Every time CHAN+ is pressed the remote advances to the next code and power is transmitted to the component.
7. Use the CHAN- key to step back a code.
8. When the TV or component turns off, stop pressing the CHAN+ key. Then, press and release the SELECT key.
NOTE: If the light flashes 3 times before the TV or component responds, you've cycled through all codes and the code you need is not available. You must use the remote that came with your TV or component.

Verifying the Codes
Once you have set up the DIRECTV Universal Remote Control using the above steps, use the following instructions to find out the 5-digit code to which your component responded:
1. Slide the MODE switch to the appropriate position.
2. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys.
3. Enter 9-9-0. (The green light under the selected switch position flashes twice.)
4. To view the first digit in the code, Press and release then number 1 key. Wait three seconds, and count the number of times the green light flashes. Write this number down.
5. Repeat step 4 four more times for the remaining digits; i.e., press number 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third digit, 4 for the fourth digit and 5 for the final digit.\

Depending on how you set up your remote, the VOL and MUTE may control the volume only on your TV, regardless of the position of the MODE switch. This remote can be set up so that the VOL and MUTE keys work only with the component selected by the MODE switch. To enable this feature, perform the following steps:
1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the DIRECTV position flashes twice, then release both keys.
2. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light will flash twice after the 3.)
3. Press and release the VOL+ key. (The green light flashes 4 times.)
Now the VOL and MUTE keys will work only for the component selected by the MODE switch position.

To Lock Volume to AV1, AV2 or TV
1. Slide the MODE switch to the AV1, AV2 or TV position to lock the volume.
2. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the selected switch flashes twice and release both keys.
3. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light flashes twice.)
4. Press and release the SELECT key. (The green light flashes twice.)

3. Press the TV button again
4. Enter the code 0156 (The Red light will blink Twice again)
5. Test the controller - Try to change the volume

Hope this helps.

Tv stand by red light flashes twice continuosly

This unit is having a problem with component failure and is going into the protection mode. This protects the unit from further damage. You will have to take or send your television in for testing and service. The service center will have all the service information to analyze the problem and do the repairs. If you had given the brand name and model number of the television, i could have directed you to a customer support website or telephone number. This information can be found in your owners manual. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
