Take a look with a flash light around the edge of the key. There may be something in there. About all you can do is completely shut the computer down (NOT DOING THIS FIRST MAY DAMAGE YOUR HARD DRIVE) Carfully and gently tap and very lightly shake the computer, then look again. Again this should not be done very aggressively. If you can't find anything and it still doesn't work, you will probably have to have the keyboard placed. The only other thing you can try is taking a compressed air can and lowing it out. If this does not work, you can take out the keyboard (preferred only if you know what you are doing) or take it to someone that does know what they are doing.

Either you have a stuck key, or your keyboard is shorted maybe due to liquid being spilled into it. Lightly tap the affected keys to unstuck it, or put the laptop in a well-ventilated area if liquid was spilled to let it dry.

How to Fix Touchpad on a Laptop

<p><span>The touchpad of your laptop is a most important and frequently used input device. If your touchpad stops functioning, it may be difficult for you to use your laptop. Touchpad normally faces following issues. <br /><br /><b>Laptop Problems and Their Solutions</b><br /><br /><b>Problems with the driver</b><br /><br />Computer hardware communicates with your computer through real time software called driver. Drivers control computer hardware. It is possible that virus or human activity may damage the driver. You can check your driver's status through computer's device manager. You'll see a yellow color indication under "Mouse and other pointing devices" heading. You can download new driver form your laptop's manufacturer website. <br /><br /><b>Problems with connection</b><br /><br />Touchpad's connection with motherboard is delicate. Some people tap on it too hard or use a shrill tool as an alternative of a finger. It came with an operating system that you don't need to re-install it. Laptop keyboard comes with many functions than the common keyboard. It has Fn keys which are called function keys. Sometimes, your laptop's touchpad stops working because you accidentally hit some one of the Fn keys. It is commonly located next to the Ctrl key. <br />2- Now search for F1 to F12 keys on the laptop keyboard. How to enable function keys on acer aspire 5349

Do a system restore before this happened might work, hook external keyboard to the laptop if no change, if external works, there is a problem with the laptop keyboard or bad device driver.

Mouse pad stopped working

If you are referring to the "touch pad" on Laptop/notebook, if the touchpad on your laptop is not working and is unresponsive, it's not broken, you or someone else has accidently deactivated it with the function key.

Then you can try this,
Most laptops (if not all) come with a function key. The function key is labelled "Fn" and usually stands out from the rest - either the "Fn" is in a different color or the key as a whole. The function key works in conjunction with other keys on the keyboard especially the ones in the top row marked "F1" to "F12". The combination of function key with these keys lets you perform various tasks quickly such as shutting the screen, putting the computer in sleep mode, switching the wireless connection on and off etc.

By keeping the function key pressed and then hitting one of the keys ("F1" to "F12"), activates a task. You can activate and deactivate the touchpad by using the function key with the "F8" key.

Hope it helps.

Try pressing the Function key and F7. The function key is 2 keys to the left of the spacebar if you are having trouble finding it.

Turn on wireless with function key hp laptop

Assuming this is the DV7 series laptop you picked when you posted there is a small wireless key above the keyboard(not embedded in the F keys) that shout be orange with the wireless picture displaying if it has been turned of.

press the key and wait about ten seconds and it should be fine.

If the key doen't turn blue then you may have a "real" problem, if it does you should be fine.

Keyboard does not work

If there is a lock feature, its probably on it as a function key. (maybe the F1, F2, etc keys?) Function keys are usually a different color and need to be used while pressing the Fn/Function key (could be called something else, just look for something other than shift/ctrl/alt/windows key).
