R4 problem cant find save file

Make a copy of the game ROM file in your R4 SD Card, then if you have the ROM file in your computer make a copy of that and replace the file in the R4, try to load again the game with the new one. BE CAREFUL make sure to not delete the .sav file of the Game.

Are you sure you wished to create a sav. file for each game?

you dont say if you have the r4 softwear loaded on the sd card if not try the r4 website and download the correct softwear for your card,you should then be able to open the games you have downloaded,hope this helps

cause DSI is the nintendos attempt to stop R4 card users! see the r4 and GnM cards made nintendo invest in a microsd slot! so try using that card with the dsi instead of the R4 as people now are hacking the micro sd slot to allow any ds rom to be played! faster then th R4 due to the fact that the micro sd is connected right to the motherboard of a ds game slot devices such as R4

sounds like you're going to have to send it to nintendo for repaire
the system files are the ds's operating system if they are damaged than it cant play games

First get the R4 OS installed onto the card (into the root dir), then make a sub directory called NDS. Put your .NDS files into that directory. you should now have a couple of sub dirs, NDS, Moonshl2, and r4iMenu or something similar. and some r4 OS files in the root directory.

R4 should boot, then pick the left icon (games) and load a game from the resulting list.

Yes you must extract the files. It won't play from a zip file. all files must end in .NDS for them to work. There are a lot of cool homebrew out there for these cards, have fun.

update the r4's firmware.

mind you could be a naff copy, i have r4 too with kernel v 1.22 and downloaded gta from www.romulation.net and works great, cant hurt to try. good luk

[DS] Cannot access save data fix. Some cards like the R4 and a few other cards have trouble running certain games,
With the exception of one game "Star Wars Jedi Alliance" All games can be fixed to work on these lower qaulity cards.


So why is it broken?
Basicly at some point during development nintendo changed the way save files are handled, saves are handled by a file inside all ds roms called "arm7.bin", older cards such as the R4 and others have no way of reading or using this updated arm7, so the solution is to swap the newer arm7 with an older arm7 taken from a working game.

This is refered to as an arm7 patch, swap or fix.


So how do i fix it?
First of all just try update your cards firmware. Firmwares for all cards


If that doesnt work there are a few programs out there that you can use to arm7 swap, DSlazy and DSbuff.
DSbuff being a more up to date program.

Extract with 7zip, winrar or winzip: 7 Zip

If you download the arm7.bin put it in the folder you create in step one then you can skip step 2 completly.

DSBuff Instructions:

Step one: Set-Up
Create a folder on your desktop and name it the game you want to fix.
Extract DSbuff anywhere and start it.

Step two: Unpacking
Run DSbuff.exe and click browse now choose a game you have that works.
Click unpack then browse in the new drop down section.
Choose the folder you created on your desktop
Click "Unpack Checked" and make it so only Arm7 has a tick.
Now click

Step three: arm7 swap.
Click the Drive:\ directory up the top or just restart DSbuff and click browse, now select the game your trying to fix.
Click on arm7 then browse and choose arm7.bin from your folder you created. Now click
Watch the green line to see when its done, it will unpack, then repack then when its finished give you the option of what to name the file.

Congratulations your finished, enjoy your game.

Make sure you have kernel version 1.18
