Question about Epson Stylus Multifunction Inkjet Printer/ Copier/ Scanner

First time installing printer

When i turn it ON for the first time, It's making sqeeking noise( the top thread brown and black). I'm following the manual intruction to install ink cartridge. The error light is flushing. I'm still waiting what to do next. Please help.

Hi-

Had one that has the same problem. Its having a hardware issue. call epson for replacement printer. 562 276 4382.

Clicking noise


Check the printer thoroughly for any small pieces of paper caught on a roller in the printer. If your printer is making a grinding noise, you may have a loose gear or roller in the printer.


If the noises started shortly after you installed a toner cartridge, turn off the printer and pull out this toner cartridge. Look up into the printer where this toner went. Make sure that both the charge roller and the transfer roller are still seated in the printer properly.


  • The charge roller is a tan-colored or gray roller attached to the inside of your top lid. Remove the toner cartridge from your printer. Close the top lid halfway with the cartridge still out. You will see the charge roller come down as you lower the top lid. Make sure that the charge roller is installed correctly within the two black arms on each end and that the roller does spin freely.

  • The transfer roller is the black, spongy roller in the bottom of the printer, under the toner cartridge. Push lightly down on it at both ends to make sure it is seated properly in its housing. NOTE: Try not to touch the charge roller with your bare hands. It is susceptible to the oil and may cause a permanent fingerprint to remain on the roller surface.

  • When you have checked the charge roller and the transfer roller, look around inside the printer. See if you can find any rollers that look loose or broken inside. Also look for any loose shreds of paper. If you do find a loose or broken part, you printer will probably require service to fix the problem.

If the rollers look fine, go ahead and reinstall the toner cartridge. If the squeaking/grinding noise continues and none of the rollers looks out of place, try swapping out the toner cartridge. There is a small chance that the toner cartridge is causing the squeaking/grinding noise. If you have any extra toner cartridges in stock, try another toner cartridge and see if that clears up the noise. If you have another working printer of the same model, try swapping the toner cartridges. See if the problem follows the toner cartridge or stays with the printer.
If replacing the cartridge does not cause the noises to go away, there are a few other things you can do to help pinpoint the source of the noise.


If the noise continues on the main printer, try opening the rear exit door while printing. See if you can tell if the grinding noise might be coming from one of those rear exit rollers/gears. If it does sound like it is coming from the rear of the printer, again look for any loose or broken part or any small pieces of paper.


If you have added any additional feed options (like a tray 2 or 3 option, duplex option, or envelope feeder), please remove these options. Try printing a few prints without these feed options attached. This will eliminate one of the feed options as the cause. If the noise goes away when you remove the options, reattach them one at a time. If the noise returns on one specific option, a roller or gear on that option may be the cause of the noise.


Is your printer making a rhythmic THUMP - THUMP - THUMP - THUMP noise when printing? This noise is a side-effect of a feature called Envelope Enhance. The Envelope Enhance feature is built into the fuser unit of the printer to help keep envelopes from wrinkling. This sound is perfectly safe and normal if the printer is printing on envelopes.

If none of the above fixes eliminates the noise, the printer will probably need service to return it to working condition.

My hp 2100 laserjet makes a sqeeking noise when it begains to print as if it is a roller, it works fine from the upper single feed with no noise please advise. Thanks


This could be caused by a worn and shiny paper seperator pad in the cassette tray 2.It sits at the front in the middle of the tray

Hp laserjet 1200 series printer with high pitch nose when in printing process. During this loud noise, the roller turns but the paper is not picked up therefore printing does not occur.


noise is caused by the toner cartridge and paper is not going trough because there is a plastic milar clse to the feed roller that is bent,find it and push it towards the inside of printer (is a black or dark brown plastic mylar)

My HP Laserjet 1200 is screeching constantly


Probably the laser-mirror motor. It will screech until the load gives a error and the printer shows error/ is dead.
However, the motor can be lubed. Remove sides, remove screws found, remove top cover. Remove and open the black box containing laser. Remove motor board and lube the motor, dont get the mirror dirty. Asseble. Total time 15min...

When I copy the page comes out black


It seems there is a possibility of a problem with the printer itself, or perhaps the cartridges. You should first self-test the printer. Since we are unsure where the problem exists, we must do eliminative troubleshooting to rule out parts of the printing system. The self-test allows us to rule out software and the cable by testing the hardware by itself. Please note that this is not a "fix," but rather a diagnostic test to determine if your hardware is at fault.
Please disconnect and then reconnect the power supply on the printer and make sure it makes a setup noise when the cable is reattached.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

1. Press the "Mode" button until "Copy" light comes on.
2. Press the "Options" button nine times. The "Maintenance" option should appear on the LCD display.
3. Press the right arrow key three times. The "Print Test Page" option should appear.
4. Press "Select."

The self-test should print out some text at the top of the page and a black and gray bar below the text. Should this test fail, try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service.
If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with the color cartridge installed. (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know.

I understand that you are unable to print in black.

Please perform the following steps:


a) Turn the printer on.
b) Open the printer’s top cover.
c) After the print cartridges have moved to the center/home position of the printer, unplug the printer’s power cord from the electrical outlet.
d) Remove the print cartridges.
e) Using a dry, lint-free, clean cloth, wipe the print cartridge contacts, from the top to the bottom
f) The contacts inside the printer may also require cleaning. Using a dry, lint-free, clean cloth, gently wipe the contacts, from the top to the bottom
g) Plug the printer's power cord into the electrical outlet.



Once the steps are done, please do not insert the cartridges into the printer.

Perform the following steps:


1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.


Please re-insert the cartridges and check for the functionality of the printe by printing any document or making a color copy fromt the front panel of the All-in-One.

Black ink


Please try the following to resolved the issue:

Run a series of head cleaning
1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing. Make sure there are no error lights or messages appearing in the LCD.
NOTE: You cannot clean the print head if the any of the cartridges are expended. Replace the appropriate ink cartridge before proceeding.
2. Load letter size paper.
3. Click on START, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTER & FAXES then right click on CX3200 printer Icon then select printing preferences
4. Click on the UTILITY or MAINTENANCE tab, then click on HEAD CLEANING.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which time the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing, unless the printer has not moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.
6. When the power light stops flashing click PRINT NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN and then click NEXT.
7. If the nozzle check pattern has no gaps in its lines, click FINISH. If the pattern has any gaps, click CLEAN to clean the printhead again.
8. If the situation continues after three cleaning cycles and nozzle checks, replace one of the affected ink cartridge(s).
9. Once the cartridge(s) has been replaced, please follow steps one through seven up to three times.
If the nozzle check still has gaps after you have run at least 3 consecutive cleaning cycles and replaced the affected ink cartridge(s) with genuine Epson inks, your printer will require service.

Grinding noise on startup


Problem The Resume light continues to blink after the paper jam is cleared.
OR
The carriage is stuck or making a grinding noise. Solution 1. Lift the top cover to the printer. 2. Turn the printer off and then on again. 3. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer when the grinding noise starts. 4. Move the carriage towards the middle of the printer (this procedure may take a couple of tries to get the timing correct). 5. Take out the cartridges and close the top cover. Turn the printer back on! 6. Reconnect the power cord. 7. Open the top cover, reinstall the cartridges, and then close the top cover
