Did you install the latest drivers for this device? Download and install the latest dell drivers and firware for the cardbus controller. Make sure you are using dell drivers, not microsoft from windows update.

No sound output

Try looking for new hardware in configuration, maybe windows will find the right drivers. Otherwize try (free) driverbooster from IObit; I like this program a lot.
If this doesn't help I think your computer was originally a XP machine and there are no new drivers for your soundcard. Then you can buy an usb soundcard as a last resort.

Install wireless card wireless network interface controller

The wireless Adapter Card should have come with instructions....
If not, then it is fairly simple if you have the 'driver' CD.
1. Load the driver CD and follow the Instructions to load the drivers.
2. Shut-down the PC.
3. With the Power to the PC OFF, UN-plug the Power-cord to the PC.
4. Insert the Wireless Card into an expansion slot on the motherboard that fits the type of Card you have....DO NOT attempt to 'force' it into a different-slot.
5. Close it up and Plugg it in and power it on.

Note: SOME wireless cards require that the Card be installed BEFORE the drivers.

for more specific details, the make/model of the wireless card is needed.

I have problems with my Dell wireless. I tried tried to install Linksys wireless. Now the linksys has been installed on my desktop. But i dont see any wireless networks on the systrayit is not connecting...

First--does your Dell have wireless capability? Most new computers do.
Next, is there a wireless switch that you must turn on--on the computer case?
Next--there is a Fn-Special function key combo that will turn on your wireless card. Did you press that combo?
Now look in you network connections--is there a wireless connection there and is it enabled?
You can also check in the device manager to see if the wireless card (under network devices) is there and is functioning. You may have to install or update the drivers.
Once you have installed or enabled the wireless device, you will see a wireless icon in the system tray.

Wireless problem

I'm Guessing your using Ubuntu 7.04... Due to a bug in the native driver shipped with Ubuntu, the wireless card on this laptop is detected and installed but you cannot find any wireless networks. Here’s how to fix it.
* Let’s disable the native Ubuntu driver. Type this in a terminal:
gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
and insert at the very end of the file:
# buggy broadcom wireless driver
blacklist bcm43xx

* Next, do this in a terminal:
sudo rmmod bcm43xx
* Now, let’s download and install the windows driver for the wireless card. You have to download it from the Dell support website. Click here to download it.
Or you can use the direct link to the executable:
Since it’s a windows self-extracting executable, you need wine to use it:
sudo apt-get install wine
wine <path_to_R140747.EXE>
Replace <path_to_R140747.EXE> with the actual physical path to the file you downloaded from the Dell support website. Follow the instructions and extract the files to a folder of your choice. Alternatively, you could extract the files on a windows machine and copy them over to your ubuntu system.
* Now, let’s install ndiswrapper. We need it to load the windows driver.
sudo aptitude install ndisgtk ndiswrapper-common ndiswrapper-utils-1.9
* Let’s install the windows driver:
sudo ndiswrapper -i <location_of_bcmwl5.inf_file>
Replace <location_of_bcmwl5.inf_file> with the path to the bcmwl5.inf file you extracted earlier.
* Let’s make sure the driver is installed:
sudo ndiswrapper -l
You should get something like this:
bcmwl5 : driver installed
device (14E4:4311) present (alternate driver: bcm43xx)

* Now we need to set up ndiswrapper to load our new driver automatically:
sudo gedit /etc/modules
and add a new line that says:
That’s it, restart your laptop. During the restart, the wiFI LED should light up. If it doesn’t, try the Fn + F2 key combination. After the reboot, configure your network settings:
System -> Administration -> Networking
Enable the wireless connection and tinker with the connection settings if you need to. You may have to disable the wired connection because wireless and wired connections may not work simultaneously - your mileage may vary in this regard.
It seems Network Manager prevents the card from connecting to detected wireless networks. I advise you to remove it if you can detect wireless networks but cannot connect to them. To do this, type the following in a terminal:
sudo apt-get –purge remove network-manager network-manager-gnome
Alternatively, you can open Synaptic and remove these two packages.
* Summary:
1.) Install ndiswrapper
sudo apt-get install ndisgtk ndiswrapper-common ndiswrapper-utils-1.9
2.) Install the windows wireless driver
sudo ndiswrapper -i <location_of_bcmwl5.inf_file>
Remember to replace <location_of_bcmwl5.inf_file> with the actual path to the location of the bcmwl5.inf file
3,) Make sure the card has been detected and installed
ndiswrapper -l
4.) Disable the native ubuntu wireless driver
gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
Insert at the very end of the file:
# buggy broadcom wireless driver
blacklist bcm43xx
5.) Remove Network Manager if it gives you problems
sudo apt-get –purge remove network-manager network-manager-gnome
You wireless card should be working flawlessly now.

I Hope this helps :)

Integrated 10/100 nic card problems

The card has developed a loose connector, it's just worn, it happens and is fairly common with these, and there nothing you can do about it, other than replace the card, and yes you can replace it with a 10/100 wireless/combo. Just remember to uninstall the drivers for the old card prior to installing the new card in order to keep from having a conflict. That is, if there are drivers, a majority of these cards are plug and play. With the wireless/combo there will be drivers.

ahhh..well...that is in the settings, under control panel. Not certain that it includes this option, but you can find that under control panel, and keyboards might need to add that option to your list. Not too hard to implement.

Try this:- Go to my computer>properties>hardware>device manager and look down the list for your cd/dvd drives and click the '+' sign then highlight your dvd drive and right click to delete. Restart the pc and windows will find the drive again automatically and install the drivers. See if that sorts it.
