Msi 850 pro2 (ms-6523) ver1 got no sound

Hi there, i would appreciate it if anybody can help me with my problem. i have a microstar 850 pro2 (ms-6523) version1 cpu, i've just reformatted it but there seems no sound coming out from it. i've checked the device manager and found no yellow question mark any where :-) but when i play winamp, there's a window pop out saying "bad direct sound driver". i'm confuse now... the cpu is using intergrated/on board sound. can any genius out there help with this problem? thanks in advance.

Hi DreadLed, i've went to microstar, intel - ac97 codec websites looking for the sound driver, chipset driver etc downloaded, install, uninstall those drivers but still no sound. I have also installed a new sound card with it driver (Genius sound maker-32x2, pci audio acceleration card) but still no sound coming out. The only sound that i heard is the sound when i hit the cpu with my hand :-) I've also install driver detective but still couldn't solve the problem. I'm lost...

hi DreadLed, my problem regarding the audio have been solved :-) know what? all this while, the real problem is in the bios. I dunno who, what, how or when but the setting for the audio has been change to disbaled. All i need to do is just to set it back to enabled/auto. Well, thanks anyway for all the help. I did learn something though, patience, relax, few aspirins and a bottle of coke did help :-)

Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.

Here, find the service named Windows Audio, which manages Windows audio devices.

If this service is stopped then audio and its associated components
will not work. Set its Startup property to Automatic so that it starts
every time you start your system.

to change to automatic double click on windows audio then under general tab look for start type then choose automatic

btw do you still have the motherboard disk?
try to use it by manually adding device and let your pc detect your driver. uninstall first your current installed driver.before doing the manual adding of device

The VGA port on the back isn't working. When I plug in the monitor the monitor goes into standby mode right away. I have checked the monitor with another computer and it works fine.

The video chip has died. Since it's part of the chipset it means that the entire motherboard has died and it will have to be replaced. Your pc is an old one, a new Socket A motherboard cannot be found - they went out of production at least 4 years ago so you will have to find a second hand one. One that will work in your pc

MS-7125 ver1 K8N Neo4 motherboard problem

Do you have the K8N-Neo4 motherboard? MS-7125 is the intern p/n for the K8N

If so, try this address, these are the most recent drivers for the motherboard.
