Hello,

This can probably be fixed. First, check that your cable coming from your monitor is tightened firmly to the socket on the back of your PC. If need be, remove this, its ok if the PC is still on, and then reattach to the plug and 'firmly' tighten the plug into the socket.

Let me know if this has resolved your problem. If not, proceed with then following paragraphs below.

Shut the PC down cold. Remove the power cord and leave it off for a few minutes. Reattach the power cord. Turn the PC on. While booting press F8 by tapping on that key like a piano key. You will get a Safe Mode boot menu. Should you get a boot source option menu, hit ESC and be prepared to hit F8 immediately to get the Safe Mode boot menu. Choose Safe Mode from this screen, then acknowledge you're booting into Windows by pressing Enter. Once you are in Safe Mode just acknowledge that you are in Safe Mode by pressing OK.

Now, you need to change the display driver refresh rate. Open Control Panel, activate the Display Icon. Click on the Settings Tab and then Advanced button. You want to change the refresh rate at this point. Click on the Adapter Tab and then the button that says List All Modes. Now select this refresh rate 72HZ. Acknowledge (and if given a preview and you have a normal display choose OK or Accept to keep the change) Now, back out by pressing OK every time until you are back to your desktop.

Now, restart your PC normally and see if you get a normal view of your Desktop.

If you do not, or you get confused, let me know by commentting back on your situation by using the Comment Text Entry Area below so I can talk you through a second approach to troubleshooting your problem. OK?

Regards,
Worldvet

    Hi,

I was hoping that your issue may be solely related to the refresh rate of your display adapter and not a corrupted installation.

Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. You
may be running in safe mode or Windows Installer may not be correctly
    installed.

    Translation:

This message might appear when you’re trying to add or remove a program
that installs via a Windows Installer MSI (Microsoft Software
Installation) package file. The Windows Installer Service is the
standard method for installing and uninstalling software on Windows XP.
It keeps track of all of the components that need to be installed for a
particular program to run and ensures that any files that are shared by
programs are not removed when one of those programs is uninstalled. The
Error 1719 is an indication that some Windows Installer Service files
are missing or have become damaged.

    Solution:

The first thing to try is re-registering Windows Installer in the
Windows registry. Make sure that no other programs are running and then
click Start, Run, type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click
OK. Next, click Start, Run, type misexec /regserver in the Open field,
and click OK. Restart your computer and try installing or uninstalling
    again.

If you’re still getting the error message, the next step is to try
reinstalling the Windows Installer files. In order to do this, you’ll
first need to rename the existing files.

First, click Start, Run, and type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click OK.

In My Computer, click Search and locate the following three files:
msi.dll, msiexec.exe, and msihnd.dll. They are hidden files so you’ll
need to select Search Hidden Files And Folders under More Advanced
Options. When you’ve found the files, rename them, by removing the .dll
and .exe extensions and replacing them with an .old extension(for
    example msi.dll becomes msi.old).

Once you’ve renamed the files, WinXP will automatically replace them
with a new copy from the dllcache (a hidden folder where copies of
important system files are kept in case you mistakenly delete or rename
critical system files). Restart your computer and try to install or
    uninstall the program again.

Finally, if neither of the above processes corrects the problem, boot
into Safe Mode, and go through the above steps again, first
    re-registering and then reinstalling.

    [End of Solution]

    Hi,

I'm sorry to see your problem still exists. Still, this exercise you just ran through does help to narrow down the problem at hand.

Sometimes, coincidences happen and perhaps this is the case with your new printer.

1.) Have you uninstalled or been able to uninstall your printer?
    a. On your CD/DVD with the Printer installer on it, there are sometimes a installer cleanup utility. It would be noted by the name of the sub Folder its located in in most cases.
2.) Do you feel there is any chance this problem is related solely to your monitor? Could this have just been a coincidence?
a Can you replace your monitor with another to rule out your monitor as the problem?
b Do you have an LCD panel or a TV like CRT Monitor?

    Regards,

You need to check your power settings. It is being set to go to turn of the drivers after a certain amount of time.

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options Then change the power options so it does not shut off the hard drive.

It sounds something else is wrong, try plugging out every pci, pci-e, and usb. If the problem still persist, try updating your motherboard driver and cmos driver.
If all the above fails, then you have a bad motherboard. Then there's nothing else you can do but buy a new pc or replace the motherboard.

Boot into safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly as the computer boots until you get to the advanced start up menu. Choose safe mode and either roll back your video driver or use a system restore point.

Why in the world are you trying to crash your computer??? Just download a virus utility, such as Trend Micro or McAffee, and let it deal with the virus. If you are having problems logging in, restart your computer, and after it goes through the BIOS screens, before it brings up the screen that says "Windows XP" with the little progress bar, press F8. Select safe mode with Networking, wait for it to go though all of the MULTIDISK screens, and then download the virus utility. If this doesn't help, please report back and elaborate on everything. What computer you have, what you mean by "crash it" (reformat???), what drivers you need to reinstall... etc...
