Soundslike a lid swithc error, you should be able to hear a "clicking" noise, as you open and close the lid, if not you need to replace the lid switch assy, it doesnt think the door is closed and for safety reasons it wont spin/drain

Whirlpool top load washer won't advance through cycles

A small motor that rotates the timer has gone bad. Common practice is to replace the timer. Usually a mechanical timer of this type is less expensive than a computerized timer.

Whirlpool washing machine won`t spin or pump out

if youre handy with tools , check out the DRAIN MOTOR PUMP , usually located at the bottom on a side of the washer , it could be clogged with lint or debris , need to open washer , remove the DRAIN MOTOR , inspect inside to remove and clean it , be ready with rags , theres a lot of water that will come out once you remove it . good luck AJ
