Samsung Z510 password problem

Have a Samsung Z510 mobile. Was with Telstra. Now changed to Virgin on a new prepaid SIM. No password was set originally. Now want to set a password for security..contacts, lock etc. When I try to do that it asks for previous password which i never set. Please help. change sim lock code

Maybe try putting in a standard password like 0000 or 1234 ??

If it's provided by network provider or it's not SIM lock to telstra, but still you have an option by make it unlocked and open line to all networks.

ya u can dial *2767*2878# from ur cell phone without sim card it will b gets off then insert sim card and switch on the cell phone it will reset all the defaults then it will ask for a security key just enter 0000 as passward problum is solved

It depends on which carrier the prepaid was with.
if The original prepaid and your wifes plan are both with the same carrier then it should be no problem just swap the sim over.
eg ( telstra to telstra ) or Optus To optus.
If the v3 is an Optus predaid and your wifes sim is a telsra plan then it wont accept the sim as the carriers lock the prepaid phones to their network
