SOURCE: 4.5 hp Briggs& Stratton push mower will not run

You need to rebuild your carb. The diaphram in the carb has gotten hard and is no longer acting as a fuel pump to pump the fuel to the carb. Get a rebuild kit and a compressor (for compressed air) to blow out the jet passages. It is an medium to easy job, just watch the small parts. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hint: Before you remove your fuel/air jets, bottom them out first and count the number of turns it takes to bottom them out and mark it down for each fuel/air jet. When you go to reinstall the fuel/air jets bottom them out and then back them back out to the number of turns before removal. That way the fuel/air jets are set to the right number of turns when it was running right. Good Luck, I hope this helped Please rate me...Thanks

Carb needs gas poured in to start engine, after initial start engine will start normally, why?

1) Sounds like the gaskets and/or needles in the bowl are shot or mis-adjusted. That allows gas to run out of the bowl down into the engine overnight. Carb might need to be re-built.
2) If there is gas in the bowl - Is the choke working properly? The butterfly should close completely.

The firwt time this year I tried to start my Briggs Troybilt Pressure Washer, it will not pump gas. I spray gasoline in to the carb and it starts for a moment. I spray gas in the cylinder, and it fires for...

If you left gas in it over the winter, particularly with the ethanol blends, the carb's probably all gunked up. You'll likely have to pull the carb, clean it and rebuild it.

I can start my 4.75 HP Briggs & Stratton Lawnmower but it dies after a few minutes. I replaced the armature but the same thing happens. I can keep it running if I press the prime bulb a couple of times...

Try replacing the float and needle. The float (floats) and pulls the needle up to let gas through to the carb. It will stay running as long as you press the prime bulb because this sends gas straight to the carb without going through the gas bowl. It's best to remove the carb and clean it then replace the float and needle

Engine wont stay running

It is a diaphram carb. Doe's the primer **** straight gas or does it have air bubbles in it? If it has bubbles in it then it is a leak in the fuel line.
If not then Unhook the intake fuel line and pump the bulb until all of the gas is out of it. Then pour the gas out of the tank and rinse it out with new gas. Pour in new gas and it should be ok.

Be sure the fuel is fresh....meaning, fresh from the gas station. IF that doesn't fix it, replace the carb.

2001 john deere saber briggs moter smell gas in oil

If you're using ethanol-blended fuel, the ethanol will eat away at the neoprene parts inside the Briggs carb.Going to need a carb rebuild.
Don't run your engine until it's fixed or you could damage it as gas will pour into the crankcase, causing the oil to thin and lose its lubricating ability.
