Boot manager compressed press ctrl+alt+del

Causes of BOOTMGR Errors

There are a number of possible causes for BOOTMGR errors, including the most common "BOOTMGR is missing" error message.

The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors an outdated BIOS and damaged or loose IDE cables

Anothe reason you might see BOOTMGR errors is if your PC is trying to boott from a hard drive or flash drive that is not properly configured to be booted from. In other words, it's trying to boot from a non-bootable source.
This also would apply to media on an optical drive or floppy drive that you're trying to boot from.
make sure there are no disks in cd floppy usb drives
Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
if its a flat ribbon 40 pin IDE it will be the fist to fail
Make sure all power and data leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs
Data and Power to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error.
also make sure you have set it boot from you hard drive in BIOS
Restart your computer and enter BIOS mode.
On most computers this is done by pressing the Delete ot F2 key but will vary depending on your computers bios other keys Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc , ALR PC: (F2) or (Ctrl)(Alt)Esc) , Award BIOS: (Del) or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc).

Scroll over to the "Hard Drives" tab, and make sure your computer has the hard drive assigned to be on.
Often during BIOS you can select auto-detect or change options with your hard drive to make sure Windows can recognize it.
Once you've selected your desired options, continue to boot.
or
The solutions might be very simply... remove your hard-disk and attached to other PC or laptop as an external hard-disk.
When it is detected, go to my computer, right-click, untick that (stupid) option, immediately you see the message uncompressing and its done.
Put your hard-disk back in to your machine its ready..
w7
insert your OS CD
go to DOS window and type in your OS driver (usualy C:/
type in bootrec /FixMbr
then type in bootrec /fixboot

then type in bootrec /rebuildbcd
then type in exit

restart your computer
it will work 100% only if you prompt at the same order

Hope this helps.
BOOTMGR Is Compressed

The Windows operating system allows you to compress the files on your drive to conserve disk space.
In some situations, this compression process will compress files required for the operating system to boot.
Files that are compressed must be decompressed prior to execution.
Since the operating system has not loaded, boot files cannot yet be decompressed.
In this case, the operating system will fail to load and a "BootMgr is compressed" message will appear.
An easy way around this problem is to boot from the Windows DVD, and use the provided interface to access your drive properties and decompress it.
Turn on the computer, and insert your Windows DVD.
Press a random key on your keyboard once you see the "Press any key..." message.
This interrupts booting from the hard drive and forces a boot from the Windows DVD.
Click the "Next" button at the bottom of the Windows 7 dialog, and then click the "Repair your Computer" link Below.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364219(v=vs.85).aspx
File Compression and Decompression
Select the "Load Drivers" button at the bottom of the "System Recovery Options" dialog, and click the "OK" button on the "Add Drivers" dialog.
This opens a file browser on your screen.
Click the "Computer" icon, which is located on the left hand side of the screen.
This displays an icon for your disk drive.
Right-click your hard drive, and click "Properties.
" This opens a Local Disk Properties dialog.
Click to deselect the "Compress this drive..." option at the bottom, and then click the "Apply" button.
Select the "X" icon to close the file browser window.
This takes you back to the Install Windows dialog.
Press the "X" icon at the corner of the Install Windows dialog.
This opens a cancellation dialog. Select the "Yes" button on this dialog to restart your computer.

In trying to upgrade to Windows 7 I keep getting this error code:Ox80070017. What do I need to do to continue?

Hi,

This error related to Data reading problem with your vista Disk.
It might be possible that your Win 7 disk has got scratches, which causes setup process not start.
Please make sure your Vista Disk is clean. You should also clean you DVD Drive lens.

Another reason is that there could be bad sectors on the hard drive you are trying to install Win 7 on.

Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working

hello lazerr_man,

Try to use another freeware burnprogram like burnatonce to create an
other CD, just to check if the Combo-drive is writing properly.

If you don't get any error messages like the ones from Toshiba program, then the problem is the toshiba software.

If other burn programs find difficulties in accessing CDs or DVD-Rs
then the drive itself giving you a hard time and might seek for replacement.

You may find the toshiba exchange parts too expensive and the internal drive is still reading disks properly, then think about an external dvd-rw drive, but make sure to buy a highspeed USB one (or even firewire, if the laptop has the port), else it will run rather slowly.

good luck

Raw file system

To fix the problem
Disable the S.M.A.R.T error detection feature in the CPUCool program or similar utility.
Boot to the Windows 2000 or XP installation CD, and at the Startup menu, press R for repair.
In the Recovery Console, type the following:
chkdsk /p
When the CHKDSK process has finished, reboot the computer.
Run the program again.
The error should no longer be reported unless you start using the S.M.A.R.T error detection feature again.

Error occurs with PartitionMagic 8.0
If you encounter Error 1516 with PartitionMagic 8, first run CHKDSK /F on the affected partition. For instructions on how to run CHKDSK, read How to Run Microsoft's CHKDSK from the Command Line. If this does not fix the error, try running PartitionMagic with the /IFC switch, which causes file system errors to be ignored.
To run PartitionMagic with the /IFC switch
Boot from the first PartitionMagic rescue disk.
When you are prompted to insert the second rescue disk, press Ctrl+C to drop to the command (A:>) prompt.
Insert the second PartitionMagic rescue disk and type the following:
pqmagic /ifc
Press Enter.
please go ahead and try the above steps may be it will fix it

Can't get 123 CopyDVD 2009 to work

This error may occur in Vista, depending on the privileges set for your account. However, there is an easy solution to this error. When running the program, make sure to run the program with administrative privileges. This is done by right clicking on the program, then clicking on "Run as Administrator".
Also, please try the steps below to turn off the DEP, which may fix the problem.

1: Right click on your “My Computer” icon, and select “Properties”.
2: Select the “Advanced System Settings” option, and click on the “Advanced” tab.
3: Select “Performance Settings”, and click on the “Data Execution Prevention” tab.
4: Once here select the “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for the ones that I select”
5: Now select the “Add” button, when the browser opens make your way to “Program Files” folder on your “Local Disk C:” drive.
6: Once, here find the 123CopyDVD folder, and open it. Double clink on the “123CopyDVD.” file.
7: Now click “Apply” then OK, and it should work.
please rate the solution if it works

Cyberlink DVD Error 80040216 error code

I was having this error for a long time, trying to figure out.
In my search, I had found:
It seems to be an issue with SP3.
someone mentioned they could go in and play the .vob file but that was it..
uninstalling and reinstalling does not work
changing hardware acceleration does not work.
I long since gave up on the search, even later changed my hard drive (yes even on new HD it was giving this error), but my windows media player kept giving me a copyright protection code error, and one of the fixes was to reinstall my video driver. Or install a decoder (seems to mean the only way windows media will play movies is if you have other dvd software installed - this way it can read from it).
So I:
*upgraded my video driver. I have a HP Nc6000 ATI mobility radeon 32mb card.
*also had bought a dvdrw drive so I put that one in
*was told by windows media I had to change my region the dvd player itself was set on region 2
Retried windows media - still again got the copyright code error, decided wth Ill try loading powerdvd again AND IT STARTED
So I dont know which one of the 3 above resolved the issue for PowerDVD, and hopefully it wont come back.
Still working on windows media LOL but I know so many had issues with PowerDVD I wanted to suggest these potential fixes.

Nero error code

Hi,
First of all if you have the Nero 7 setup file, try installing it once and uninstall from control panel -> Add Remove Programs, after that try installing Nero 8, if this doesn't solve the problem you can proceed with Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, download that from microsoft website, Install it and Run it, then select all the entries of Nero from the list you get and click on Remove. Then try to Install Nero 8, it should work fine.
