Hello, If i understand correctly, you are just trying to set up your Magellan gps into your Toyota Avalon. First of depending on the kit you got for the bracket to hold the unit, it normally will have a suction cup, that secures the bracket, put the bracket on the window, normally to the right of driver view and toward bottom of window, then after putting mounting (suction cup and gps holder) on window, then mount gps in to bracket, now your gps is mounted at this point on window. Now, of course you have to plug it in. GPS kits when you buy them normally have a 110 power plug ( to plug into home outlet) and some will have with the kit, a 12 volt cigarette type of plug to plug in your car (which is 12 volt power) In your home of course you can charge the gps off your 110 power, and gps will run off internal battery for a few hours, but you will find out like with mine, that your better off to plug into car for power, because the internal battery does not last very long. I have a Magellan as well, and they are great units. NOW this being said, if you did not get with your gps a 12 volt car adapter for your gps, you will have to get one. ( unless you have a power converter, which takes 12 volt and converts it to 110 power, but that's another story and only recommended for devices that do not have 12 volt adapter capabilities)
In conclusion if you have the 12 volt adapter to plug in your gps, all you do is find your cigarette lighter, take out your cigarette lighter, put in glove box for storage, and plug your gps in your cigarette lighter, or any other 12 volt cig lighter plugin. That's all there is to it, and now you have power running off your car. Thanks mike , hope this helps
I had the same problem. I took it back to Costco where I bought it. I had it only 60 days.
