Question about Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player

1 Answer

Sony blu ray player freezes I did a firmware update and then the player froze up with a standard DVD in it. Sony said to unplug and plug back in, but that didn't do the trick so they suggested I send them $100 and they would fix it for me. Bull ****. If I can't get something to work it is going in the trash. Any suggestions? I really think if I could get the DVD out, it would probably boot up and be OK, but short of breaking the door off I can't figure out what to do. Help please.

I have done at least 5 firmware updates and this piece of junk still freeezes up. I tried to get some online help from Sony but they told me to do a firmware update. They do not read what you send them.

I would never ever in my life buy another product from Sony. This blu ray player is really just junk.

Sony BDUX10s Blu Ray SATA drive.
Slows the system a little just by being hooked to it. Slows it a lot by inserting a disc. Slows the system to the point of being useless when you try to start a disc or access it. Happens whether a DVD or Blu Ray is inserted. Windows will not finish boot with a disc at any point in the boot process. Sent it to Sony for repair. They sent it back as is saying it played fine on their Dell system. After working with it some more they are going to send me a new drive. They seemed to have no other solution for me. My system is well into preferred hardware standards for this drive.
It should work, but doesn't. This is my second drive. My first froze the system right out of the box. The second drive worked beautifully for a week. Now it is doing the same system lock up thing.

I have exactly the same problem. I've had it for only 5 weeks, "cannot play" or "no disc" is all i'm getting. SONY??? The worst customer support I have EVER experienced. They either lie or quote their conditions of sale over and over......expect me to take it 120 miles to the nearest service centre or send it by insured courier service. The service centre by the way will only the cover the cost of repairing the unit. All other costs including the postage and any parts it may need , I am responsible for......This is unbelievable

Our Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S300 will play older Blu Ray disks but not two newly released blu-Ray disks. It just keeps "Loading" on the screen but never finishes.

Try to update the firmware on the player by going to this website http://www.blu-ray.com/firmware/firmware.php?id=10 the newest version is 5.20 fixes alot of problems including playback issues with some BD movies and safe the file into a flash drive and plug it in on the back USB port, go to menu/firmware update run the update.

Sony Blu-Ray Disc Player Problem

1. If you just bought the dvd player from a retail store, bring it back and exchange another one!
2. If you can not return it,unplug the power cord of the dvd player and wait for 1-2 minutes, burn another FRESH dvd and load it up. Your problem is that if you are able to ease the previous download in the information, you could easily upload your firmware through your burn dvd right?
Have you try to ask Sony to show you how you could ease the previous data from the player?

Player freezes when powered on.

Hello friend.
Maybe u should fix this problem with firmware update. Firmware updates repairs all problems almost. U can get it from here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=BDPS300&upd_id=3516&os_id=7. If u have problems anyway, u may consider it would be a hardware fail, if so u'll have to send the BD player to a technical service from SONY to check it out.

I hope this works 4 u. Good luck!!
